It seem bit of hassle of putting memory card in or out when you want to screw them then take memory card out. I like the old 3DS Nintendo where you put memory card in and out without any hassle.

Why did Nintendo make some change to make things harder!?

I guess they made the web browse faster and cant think any improvement to spend hard earned cash on little improvement of 3DS XL!

That's a shame. I was considering buying one while I was in the UK and keeping my original Zelda special edition one for display.

I'm just tired of not being able to buy the Special Edition versions of things. I don't care about collection values, I really want one of the new Majora's Mask 3DS systems to USE because I'm a huge fan. I really dislike scalpers. Unfortunately, people will pay the highly inflated prices. Even if I don't get one, I refuse to do that.

Every game system tries to lock things down, mostly to reduce piracy. It's unfortunate, but a fact of life for new systems. :)

I did rather get old 3D XL where is less hassle to put memory card in and also cheaper to buy :)

Everybody is different and the reason why Nintendo made it harder for new 3D XL console is like you say mostly to reduce piracy....

I'm eagerly awaiting getting to use my Monster Hunter 4 New 3DS when I get home. I know for a fact load times are faster, processing power is better, face tracking for 3D is added, a couple extra buttons along with the analog nub, and there will be exclusive games for it (Xenoblade Chronicles at the very least). Hopefully it won't be another DSi with barely any specific software outside of the eshop.

Having two sons with the older style 3DS's I can see why they did it, children are forever fiddling and when ever the cards get popped out while the 3DS is on it often corrupts and losses all the data on them. My son did this twice and now knows to leave it alone :)

I imagine they got lots of support calls about it.

Sorry to hear that, I'll never get rid of mine but I am paranoid I'll wear out the decals if I keep playing with it... and look at it, it's beautiful. How mortified would I be if I damaged it  I'd much rather get a another black one to use on a daily basis :D Excuse the stacking on the machines, I am having a bit of a retro night as its my first weekend off since I've gotten back from Taiwan and Japan last month, I've got my Megajet plugged in with the Everdrive (the picture is unbelievably crisp and it plays Master Systems games to boot ) and a PC Engine LT over the other end of the room with another Everdrive, and while I was at it I thought I'd fire up the SG-1000 II Bryce RGB modded a few years back and try Orgus I bought in Japan. I try to love the original controllers but they're just soo bad hence the Master System ones

I use the clear acrylic cases on my portable systems. They generally keep the systems in much better condition than most of the other types of cases. :)

I'll give one a go  The only thing I find with the hard shells for things like phones is they bulk them out too much for my liking but its worth a shot for the price of the shells. Out of interest do they do them for the GBA's? I've got an AGS-101 and GBA Micro I wouldn't mind keeping in good condition

Looking at a video review of the 3DSXL here http://www.gamespot.com/articles/new-3ds-xl-review/1100-6424830/ the cover on the bottom could be engineered to give access to the micro SD card, basically machine a keyhole shape through it. But if you wanted to keep the cover intact (I would) and if you have access to a 3D printer and some CAD skills I think it would be possible to design and print a new cover with the required SD slot access. You could maybe even print a sliding door into the design as well.
