I have been speaking with Phil from A1200.net and the topic of a possible run of replacement Amiga 600 cases was raised. I believe there would be great demand for this, but Phil has his doubts.

For them to tool up and produce said case would require a minimum of 800 sales, sale price would be 69 EUR (+ shipping).

I know I would personally want half a dozen off the bat as I have over a dozen restored A600's, but it would be nice to replace some of their cases as the clips are never totally intact etc.

Anywho, if we can get enough interest to show 800 sale units is possible then this could become a reality. Now that we have a replacement A1200 and A500 case if would be nice to have the A600 given some love, especially with how popular the model has becomes of late and the number of expansions and accelerators now available for it.

Who here would be interested in this?

EDIT - BTW, I am in no way affiliated with A1200.net, nor do I have any say, influence etc. I have simply been speaking with Phil during a couple of purchases, I raised the topic and he expressed that it would only be a possibility if there was enough demonstrated demand for such a product... which is what I am trying to ascertain.

Sounds good. I was hoping the full size amiga ( if retrogames followed suite with the full size c64 ) would have been the A600 shell.

I would definitely want one for my A600, if available on a different-than-stock color (I HATE white plastic, for all its retrobright issues).

Still waiting on my 1200 case from them, going on like 5 years now.
Seriously? I have seen a couple of forum posts of people still waiting for A1200 cases. I take it your case was a certain colour that they have, as of date, failed to produce?

Chances are if they did do a run of A600 cases then they would be offered in both original white and in black. Other colours may come later, but these two seem pretty probable. How does black suit you? I dare say a sexy black A600 case with matching black keycaps would look pretty awesome.

Yes, meanwhile they keep making other things while we still wait. I guess they got our money, so what's the rush?

Sounds like a less than sustainable business plan. :( Hopefully they will pony up with the goods sooner rather than later.

What colour is the case you are waiting on? They have made some nice semi translucent cases (the Akumi Red is gorgeous) which are in stock. If one of these cases strikes your fancy I am reasonably sure they would send you one of these instead of you having to wait longer for a product that is MIA.

There are many tales such as the above 5 year wait for keycaps, cases etc while they keep people’s money so I would be very wary about paying them up front for anything.

Black would do it, no doubt.

But, if the launch batch comes in the form of a "CD32 special edition", I'm completely sold.

I've only seen a couple, but as I am not in a position to comment. I have not pre-ordered anything from A1200.net. I have made over two dozens purchases and every item was posted quickly and arrived quickly, but that is not the same.

I would certainly buy one to replace my old case, especially if it has accomodations for hdmi/vga/usb ports. My old top case has been modded to have all this long time ago.

I expect it would have the same breakout HDMI, LAN, USB sections in the case as the other models A1200.net has manufactured to suit all configurations.

Yeah but actually the A1200 cases don't really have this. They have said to cut the case here or there but it is not truly breakable parts, still need modding and what people have made is generaly ugly cutting.
At the contrary, the new A500 cases really have things done neat.

Yes and no. The A500 cases had a lot more options for breakaway interchangeable sections than the A1200 case, but the A1200 case still had extra options the original Commodore cases didn't have, such as rear VGA out etc interchangeable panels and the extra internal screw down points for different motherboard options.

Also it should be noted that A1200.net did the A1200 case first, and the A500 case came much later, so obviously they are adding features etc as they progress, so it would be fair to assume they would be adding further features and options to future products.

Still, it would be nice to see a possible A600 case having even more options akin to the A500, such as an extra breakaway port where the RF out usually is.

I'd be in for a 600 case or two, but like Dale423, it would be nice to get my 500 and 1200 case as well first ... The team have enough to do finishing off the previous orders before we can only hope they would take up the 600 case challenge 👍
