Seriously though, if Google had released this updated model with an 8" screen and kept the same price then it would sell like crazy
You got it in one

I think the 'sweet spot' for small tablets is 8", anything smaller just looks like a big phone![]()
In tests it was a fraction of a second faster than tegra. The GPU is slower.
I have overclocked my Gen 1 to 1.8GHz and GPU to 650MHz and ran it for over 12 Hours. Wonder if its possible with this one.
MASS STORAGE will not return apparently.

XDA Developers, they done a side by side test. In every test Gen 1 was a fraction slower, like half a second.
Not sure why they dumped Tegra, I think its an awesome chip, being able to stream PC games full screen to it is cool. Mass Effect on my Tablet,.

I dont find my new Nexus slower at all, its quite slickI love the new screen!
USB mass storage mode means the device storage/SD card mounted in it appears to the PC as a normal USB memory stick would. Now the only 2 options are MTP or PTP mode, which are slower than mass storage mode and dont work on older machines (eg XP SP2 without any updates). I have over 800 pics of my cat on my Samsung (not sure about the Nexus), its takes forever to generate thumbnails and I have to do it each time I open up the directory  In mass storage mode, it thumbnails stuff once (and quickly) and is much more tolerable. Yes I know 800 pics is excessive but shes my baby![]()

Google said themselves, they dumped it in jellybean. Everyone is bitching about it. I only discovered after update 4.3, It killed any usage of MTP for me,. If I connect via usb it screws up the mounts and I have to reset nexus,
. Never had this issue until 4.3. Im stuck using WiFi to transfer.
You misunderstood, the new one is slightly faster, you cant even tell really.

Nowt wrong with lots of pictures of your cat... nothing at all.
As for transferring data to and from my phone, I have just about given up with the MTP mode - far too slow. I tried to upload a few albums to my SD card before a trip one day, and just gave up.
I've since invested a few beer tokens in WIFI File Transfer. Its great just using the wifi to copy stuff to and from my phone using a web browser. Not ideal, but much faster than the usb connection.

I bought wifi explorer pro, absolute life saver. Works awsome.
Why not just use the app "FTP Server"? I've been using it for a very long time.
You just start it on the android device, it creates an ftp server on the device, then from any computer on the same WiFi network just open an ftp client, point to the ip of the android device running the app, enter the username and password you set in the app, and you then instantly have complete access to the whole storage of the device and can drag and drop. Works perfectly. I use it to backup images, and to copy things like apks, roms, mp3s etc the other way onto the device.
