Hiya, I am selling this on behalf of a friend: an A3640 that does not work - at least with his A4000.

The card was send to a technician some years ago for a recap and upgrade to rev3.2 and was sent back as working.
It did not work with the target A4000 so it went to the technician once again , and it returned once again as working. But my friend's A4000 did not like it again hence the sale.

Here is the card, comes with the original v3.0 GAL as extra:

Could be an easy fix, could be a complete dead card - this is sold as NON WORKING for 50e + shipping.
I don't have an A4000 since many years now so I can't provide more info other than pics, if you need something specific just ask!

Thanks for looking!

Hello,

i am the person that has attempt to repair this card. I have received it with two A4000D motherboards, that was in needed of repair because unknow parts was defective, and this cpu card, that was affected by strong battery leakage.
I have replaced the electrolitic capacitors with solid parts and some track was brocken caused by the strong corrosion of the acid.
Many 74 series ic was affected by this leakage and i have cleaned all the pins, then i have tried to discover the faulty: i have replaced the GAL to upgrade the card to rev. 3.2, in the hope that the faulty was there, but i have failed and the card was not completely repaired.
During this attempt, i have sent to the owner the two A4000D motherboards (clean and in working order), and, because i have only an A3000D with ROM 2.0, i have tried to understand if the cpu card was ok or not, and i have sent a wrong result to the owner.
Please, keep in mind, that i have asked to the owner, just the cost of the new GAL and the task to clean the board and nothing more.
Another thing: the PCB of an A3640 is not so good like the PCB of an A4000 motherboards: the anular rings of the throug-hole parts are, for my opinion, to thin and fragile and i have only ordinary tools to solder and desolder the components!

Regards
Stefano

Thanks for the input vibros, like I said it's not my card so I have no idea what you tested with or what has been discussed with the owner. This is a non-working sale.
I won't argue what you say except the "strong corrosion of the acid" ? on this A3640?
This card shows no signs of any strong acid corrosion , infact there is no sign that it even had an acid corrosion (except the minimal and usual that may be under the original capacitors that we can't see because you replaced them). There isn't even any pcb/trace discoloration on this!
Maybe you remember another card or something, because there is no way for anyone to clean acid corrosion and make the original solder look like it never had any problems at all:

Hello,

you do not see any sign off corrosion on the pins of the 74 series ic, because i have cleaned it!!!!
You see the card not in the state that i have received it the first time (but the previous owner can have a picture that show this issue)! Shame, that it is not working!
Take a look at an old A4000D motherboard, near the two RCA (audio) connector: you well see strong leakage from capacitors and corrosion on the pins here and there.

Regards
Stefano
