Closed old xbox mod's UK (basic stuff) "not 360"

No problem.
Right now, I don't even know if this unit actually works. I got it at the thrift store for literally nothing and it came with no power cable or tv hook ups. I found a local shop that wanted an outrageous amount of money for the cables, so I jumped on ebay and bought some from China for a tenth of what the local guy wanted, and they are probably the exact same ones.
Should be arriving any day now.:whistle:

after they get here and I can see if it works, I will probably decide from there, what I want to do with it.

some of those cheapo av cables are prety useless. BUT you can solder a resitor from the ground wire to the mettal sheilding of the av connection and it makes it 100x better..
for some reason they cause interfearance, but when you put a resister on the ground wire it works much better. i assume that this is purley down to reducing the statc thats geting fed back to the av.

also the power cable simply needs to be any figure of 8 cable. the breaker boxes were never officialy released with the xboxes. they sent them if you asked for one instead of recalling the console and fixing the real issue. (foxlink psu power in connection not properly anchored down)
So your much better off with anchoring down the power in part of the psu and using a figure of 8 cable rather than not doing it and using the breaker. because honestly.. the breaker does NOTHING.:double
 
Can I just add that Shambles is the man for Xbox consoles. I have a 128MB Xbox console off him and it was preloaded with all kinds of homebrew on it.

He is the real deal ladies and gentlemen. :thumbsup:

Hi, I have messed up my 1.6 xbox HDD was softmodded but I tinkered ttrying to upgrade the drive! it gets error code 13 now (still boots original games) I would love a 80-160GB drive & a modchip.

Can you help with this and what would the cost be?

hi i sent a reply to your pm. as for the costs of a hard disk and chip install.

if you just want to fix your softmod i can tell you how to do that for free. But wiont have a hard disk upgrade or mod chip involved lol.
 
Xbox arrived today as stated in pm..
sustained some bashing in transit it seems..

but seems to be in a fully working condition any way (well as working as it was before it was sent here lol)

It will be getting returned in a bigger box.. The dent on the box that seems to have caused the damage really is not that major. but this is one of those "brittle" plastic boxes..
and of course i will replace the case and front pannel. "no need for extra payment"
consider it a gift :thumbsup:

Due to a request of "please get it returned ASAP" the rest of the work was not documnted, and the box has already been collected and sent back. should be back with the owner tomorrow.

Because i dont offer softmods as a service.

I have thrown together a softmod "loaner kit" :thumbsup:

Its quite simple..
has a Xbox memory card, and 2 games..
if some 1 wants to borrow it. let me know and they can pay postage both ways and be sure to send it back..

if your not known to me. its going to be a deposit to pay pal affair im afraid..
you can buy the kits some where for £13, so im saying £14 deposit Will mean you will send it back to get you £14 back right??

all deposits will be returned when the kit gets back.
Hopefully not many people will need to pay a deposit at all though as this is quite a trust worthy place.
Please dont ask if you may be offended if i state deposit is required.. As i would hate to offend any one.

But like i said most people wont be asked for a deposit. and its more for newly joined members, or people who have not traded/have 0 feed back or negartive feedback..
 
ShambleS, i know you say that u dont do the cpu and ram mod anymore, but would you consider doing it for payment?

If not do you know of anyone based in the UK that still does this service?

I have the ram, but i dont do the install.. (it takes way to long for me, i can do it but at my soldering skill level it takes a long time. so id only ever do it to a xbox if i was selling the box itself as it would be more cost effective for me and if anything did go wrong im not out anything serious.)

any one whos 1/2 decent with a soldering iron can do the upgrade though.
i just recomend using the latest IND bios..

As for the cpu upgrades..
Its next to impossible to find the friendtech adapters for the BGA to PGA conversion..

I do know of some 1 who had one for sale though..
but he was making a xbox mini out of it and just ran out of time.

my understanding is all the parts are there so you can either finish the case mod they started.
or convert it back to a 1.4ghz 128Mb xbox in a normal case..

I can do the ram upgrade, just FYI. I have a thread in this forum and someone posted the pictures of my work on his Xbox.

But I do not have spare chips.

Do you still have Ram for the Xbox for £8 inc postage? I've got a v1.4 (I think) so these should work ok, yeah?

and on that note..

Repair shop is being shut down for a couple of weeks..
having the whole place rewired..
Had hoped to get a new place before now, but the electricians come in 20 days time.
They are also going to move the kitchen from the front of the house to the back turning the living room to an open plan kitchen dining thing. the old kitchen will become a "Utility room" they say they will be done in 2 weeks time.
if everything goes to scedule i should be back up and running in about 34 days.
but right now my tools and spare parts are being packed up.
"I have no idea what im going to do for a month with none of this income, i think i will live in bread and water lol"
Wish me luck on the lottery tonight. I could do with 42 Million lol.

Hello thought i better make a comment on here so you know i found your services via this forum thread, Just want to thank you for being so helpful and patient with my question regarding my problem i have with the Xbox.

Hopefully you got lucky and won the lottery but some how i feel you would have posted back on here if you had lol.

ok a "couple of weeks ended up as more like 13 months lol"

should have some mod chips in again soon. have a few 160Gb drives in stock.
and almost ready to go :P
 
Question.
My Xbox is a bit iffy, sometimes it wont boot to dash, other times it just wont turn on. Its chipped

I have plonked a bigger HDD inside
I tried AID (think its called) with no luck, right now its sitting here as a paper weight,
I take it you can fix them, how much is return postage on these big buggers?
 
depends what the problem is but with my hermies console only should be about £6 one way.

maybe you would be better describing the problem in more detail.. and prehaps you can fix it with some help :):thumbsup:
