Hi guys, i'm looking for a few original xbox spares.

I tried to reflash the TSOP last night with a newer bios and as i was playing around with both a 1.0 and a 1.4 i flashed a 256k bios to the 1.0 which requires a 1mb. I tried the 3 wire trick to try and rescue it but its a no go so looking for a replacement 1.0 motherboard.

I also have another console which someone gave to me after knocking it off a sideboard which damaged the psu. Console checks out with a different one so i'm just looking for a replacement 1.4 psu.

Let me know if anyone has anything and how much.

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike

Funnily enough I was going to list an original XBox, I havent opened it or anything so Ill need to check it works etc.

Also, the reason I havent done anything with it because there looks to be a little rust on the metal ports at the back, Ill take some pics.

Sending PM with (very generous!) offer :D

Taj

Here it is :)

Ill power it up later on and let you know if all is working

"Deleted all that junk as i found a suitable 1.4 psu."

I would also happily look at your 1.0 board for you if you wanted. Thats provided i have a 1.0 psu to use on it lol..
But if the bios you flashed was bad then the 3 wire trick wont work.. that only works if its simply the wrong size. if its the wrong bios or corrupted then yopur running out of options.
BUT you can always hot swap a duox2 chip using a very specific evox bios for tsop flashing off the chip.
I say duox2 but i imagine any chip that can be unpluged from the lpc header after supplying the booting data would work.

_edit_
I dont have a 1.0 psu that i can see any where immideatly although i have boxes of junk under my desk i should check but the avalanch that would inevitably follow makes me not want to do that.
So if you wanted me to have a look at your 1.0 board for you id need the psu as well.
"wouldnt need anything els though"

Ok seems i do have a 1.2-1.5 Psu here.
Il need to test it 1st, lucky enough i do have a 1.2 xbox to test it on. Looking it over by eye though seems fine.

Hi Shambles, thanks for the offer to look at it but but i'll pass on it for the moment. I did a little research last night on recovering from a bad flash myself and found the article about using a duox2 and the tsop d.6 bios. I have an xecutor 2.6, any idea if that chip would work?

To be honest though these two boxes are just spares from a box under my bed so i'm not in any rush to fix them.

If your psu checks out though let me know how much you want for it.

i wont be testing it out untill like midnight lol.
But if it works il check the postage on it and then mark up about £5 for it if thats ok with you. id usualy ask more for the thing but your a decent guy and although it may come in usefull if it works, right now all its doing is adding to the mountain of stuff my wife says annoys her. "i dunno women, never will understand them"

as for the executer, I really dont know. I know the duox2 has 2 banks and pops on the lpc header, so you can use the modified bios on on bank and then disconnect the chip from the header whilst its booting which leaves the flash path clear to the tsop.

you could also make a 32 wire enigma chip which generally is useless But does allow flashing of the tsop "only thing its good for" Unfortunatly the only 1 i had i sold it to some guy in the USA for his collection.
But you can make them your self if your savvy like that. Honestly though the 32 wires to be solderd in place is a nightmare.

having said all that if you have a chip maybe you should just bite the bullet and use that?
the tsop wont matter with a chip installed as it never gets to the tsop to boot it boots from the lpc instead, "also why you cant flash the tsop with a lpc chip but the 32 wire works"

Yeah i know i could just install the chip and use that but that's actually in use in a different machine, a 1.4 with a failed tsop (not by me this one).

I just thought maybe i could borrow the chip from that machine and try it. I probably will do later anyway.

if you dont have alpc header for it try dissconnecting the D0 wire when your doing the part where you disconnect the chip. "probably better to attach some sort of switch to the d0 that "should" turn the chip off.. Hopefuly leaving apass through to the tsop,
but if you dont have 2 atleast banks on the chip then maybe you would rather not risk flashing a bad bios to that as well..
not implying that you may lol.. just you know.. 2 xboxes 2 bad tsops.. lol "DANGER WILL ROBINSON"

-=edit=-
i found a DOA 1.0 board in my mound of stuff. Bought it in a pile of stuff fpr spares.
it was missing caps b4 i started so never tried to repair it.
I can look it over if you want see if its fixable. if i can fix it and the psu works il send you both..
Also if your any good at soldering.. i could desolder the tsop from this board "st" and you can solder it on to your board, not sure if it works like i said. but if you want me to try and fix it id be happy to have an excuse to work on something.
and if you want the tsop chip let me know and il desolder it for you.

-=edit 2=-
ok i got all exited, just posted that last edit and rememberd i dont seem to have any 1.0 psu's,
Any way the offer still stands if you want the tsop chip.

update on this, installed my xecuter (2.3b lite with 2x512 banks)

Flashed X2.5035 to the first bank and the tsop.d6 to the second bank.

x2 bios boots fine and loads discs and the dashboard. tsop.d6 bios doesn't boot at all . i just get the hdd and dvd clicking and a flashing eject light. Been reading and trying different stuff for about 4 or 5 hours now and no go.

All the guides i've been reading say you need to disconnect the d0 wire about 1-1.5 seconds from cold boot.
I tried this by snipping the d0 wire and holding it together while booting and letting it go after the said time.
However i noticed even with the wire snipped and not connected the modchip still boots!

So on that note still looking for a 1.0 motherboard.

dosent seem to work. il have a good look at it maybe its a cracked solder join, but i dont see any obvious damage any where on it.
probably a resistor or something some where.

if i get it working il put it in my 1.2 and you can have the working one thats in my 1.2, but i would not tell others that you dont want a p.s.u on the basis of the if.

-=edit=-

just been at it with my multi meeter, and i think i found 2 dead smd resistors. And a dubious transistor.
I may or may not try to repair it soon, i was hoping it would be a matter of solder joint some where but continuity testing lead me to the resistors. and the transistor dosent seem to be acting the way i expect it to..
so il probably end up replacing them and whatever the real fault is will just cause it again, Although the inital fault could have come from the xbox it came out of IDK.

Sorry about that.

Received Taj's box today. Feedback has already been left for him.

Still looking for the 1.4 PSU, i think i've sourced a motherboard from the other bay, just waiting for it to arrive.

was the other board ok?
As i have just gotten some boxes now.
i was going to make a slim box out of one due to the dead dvd drive but its a 1.0 (also have a 1.1)
So if the other board was DOA, i can tsop one of these for you and sell you that.
I could also by the same token send you the 1.0 PSU, its possible to convert a 1.0 psu to a 1.4 provided you have the 1.4 atx connector.

I cant let the psu go without the board though as it would leave me with a board and no one to buy it, So if you need both let me know within the next couple of days before i start cutting down the case and ordering fans for it.

Hi Shambles, yeah i received the 1.0, actually a 1.1, board from ebay and it's woking fine. I tsop'd it and fixed my working machine. Now just looking for a 1.4 psu. I've located a universal psu from amazon that has an adapter and will fit the whole range of 1.0-1.6 which i'll probably order if i don't get any joy.
Not in any rush though so had actually forgotten about this thread lol

Ok thanx for letting me know :)
i can now get on with making it a slim box. Just need to decide what colours to make it :)

ok if you still need a 1.2 - 1.4 PSU i have mangled a v1.0 to a 1.4 connetor.
Not the pretiest job realy. I solderd the wires up good then hot
glue was applied as an insulator and i will tape the wires individualy too. havent done that yet incase you want to see 1st.

Hi Shambles and thanks for thinking of me buddy.
I have since sourced a 1.4 psu so i no longer need one.

My next request will be looking for someone to upgrade the ram on one of my mobo's to 128mb but that's for another day when i have some spare pennies.

Thanks again for thinking of me and for the offer.

This thread can be closed down now
