Painted my 1200

Well it was a nice day today,great for spraying and as I have been toying with the idea of a cherry red matalic Amiga 1200 today was the day

Anyway I wanted to take out the vent on the unit to put in a mesh type vent to give the Amiga a moden look, but the mesh I got was to hard to bend and shape to fit (so I`m still oooking for some)

So here is where I`m up to with my new look Amiga 1200, just need to sort out a new black mesh now.

To be honest the photos dont do the final colour justice,as its a real nice cherry matalic red.

I got from it a local paint shop that mixed the paint for me, I told him I wanted a nice matalic cherry red, he came back with a sample mixed up up and I said thats the one.

The is a code on the can but I dont think it would mean anything to another paint shop but here it is.

I also used a matalic silver as a basecoat in place of gray primar, and the colour only really came out when I the clear lacquer.

I`m just having probelms getting hold of some meshing that can be easly moudled and shaped to fit in the cut out for the new vent.

I use to do some spraying years ago for my Brother-in-law in his motobike shop,that where I picked up the hands on skill.

I have a old A600 bottom case and did a sample spray on that

Give it a go Steve, if you make a mistake you can always repaint it.

I wanted to give the Amiga a new look, so this is going to have a black mesh vent fitted into it when I find the right stuff for making one, upto now the one I did was to hard to bend and mould into shape so I will keep looking for the right mesh.

There is aluminium mesh available around. They are primarily used in automotive filters, so if you don't locate some, buy a truck air filter and cut it from that.

I am impressed that the 4keyboard.com has started doing a range of Amiga 500/1200 specific stickers.

I myself have been looking at maybe doing a metalic blue spray job (among so many other projects!)

Cool 1200, kind of the same idea but i wanted to get rid of the plastic vent, so I cut it out and will worry about getting a vent later.

I`ve got loads of ideas for Amigas just getting around to doing them.:roll:

Well I was thinking of a nice matalic electric blue for my next one.....I ordered 2 sets of keyboard stickers in case I get chance to do one....
if you do a blue one let me know, I`d love to see a blue A1200.

My red 1200 I`d love to do a big box Amiga in that colour.:roll:

Now finished, I could not get the mesh I wanted,so just used what I could find looks ok,the cover over the disk drive worked.
