Figment and Black Desert are 2 games that are currently completely free on Steam until 9th March 2023.

Figment is an action adventure with a really nice art style.

Black Desert is a JRPG style MMO.

As both are free it's worth adding them to your Steam library. Just search in Steam and it just lets you add them. Simple

Wow, this thread is still alive 11 years later.... 🤯

Just picked up Bioware collection over at Steam for only a few squids more than Mass Effect Remaster is going for by itself.

Epic Games seem to give away games constantly, got Death Stranding last week for free this week's free game offer is Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition

Yeah, I got a few free decent games from Epic as well (y)

I have 180 games in my Epic account, I think I may have paid for all of 3 of them.

there are typically 1 or 2 given way free per week, usually rolling over on Friday mornings (at least for me)

one of the more recent games I have gotten free was Star Wars: Squadrons. (though I wont be able to play it until I upgrade to W10 or 11)

for what it's worth, Epic is 40% owned by Chinese company Tencent, not that I think it matters, but a few people I have talked to seem to take issue with it. (privacy/data concerns)

but then, my data is worth less than the free games :P

I keep missing them, even though I know they're there!

Oh, the mention of Fallout New Vegas reminded me of something.

there are some issues on some systems with Fallout games crashing a lot, and I came across a bit of info in regards to it.

I noticed on my system that almost every time it crashed it was related to an old DirectX module/MS app, ActiveMovie (the precursor to MediaPlayer, and became DirectShow when it was added to DirectX)

during certain events in game an ActiveMovie box would pop up and FO would crash or freeze.

if anyone has this issue (or similar), installing the K-lite codec pack seems to all but get rid of the crashing. (I still get the occasional one, but probably 1/20th of what it was. (EVERY time I would try to enter Megaton after a certain point in the game on FO3) just save often...)

New Vegas wasn't as bad but was still happening (I seem to recall it happening at some point where you discover the bodies in REPCONN HQ in particular)

it presumably got rid of any old references to ActiveMovie, at least in my case.

Fallout 4 - Game of the Year Edition (all DLCS included) is currently 75% off on GoG if anyone is interested.

it's $13.39CAD, which should work out to about $9.90USD / 7.75GBP / 9.09E

that's about as cheap as I have ever seen it for the whole works.

Humble Bundle has a 'Spaced Out' bundle up right now (and for the past week and a half - 2 weeks), which contains the following items:

High on Life
Outer Worlds
Outer Worlds Expansion Pass (2 Mission DLCs)
Trover Saves the Universe
The Entropy Center
Journey to the Savage Planet
55% off 'coupon' for JttSP:Hot Garbage DLC
Breathedge

for about $40CAD (23.30GBP / $29.40USD / 27.20EUR) (or half as much for all of that except High on Life and the expansions for Outer Worlds)

8 days remaining on this one.

I highly recommend this for Outer Worlds and it's DLCs alone (normally $80 for the 'deluxe' edition), I have been playing it for the past week and it plays a lot like Fallout, with Time dilation rather than VATS, and SF rather than Post-Apocalyptic.

though I'd say it is not quite as good as the Fallout series, if you've already burned through the Fallout games, this scratches a similar itch.
