Firstly, is PiStorm a lighter version of FPGA by chance?

Second, with the C64u's release (mine will be delivered eventually) and the proliferation of FPGA concept; will there be a FPGA board for the A4000 or A3000? I want to use AGA with significantly faster processor as video boards for Amigas are ridiculously expensive. The main goal is to run EMLANT Mac Emulator. I have some graphics software that are powerful and have simple interface that current software just can't compare. Sure, they are powerful and have features, but I prefer the simplied interface of the old softwares that I got. In any case, it would be great if I can make them work at a much, much faster speed. I need EMPLANT because I use the interfaces in the EMPLANT board all the time. The only reason I had continued to use my A4000 is because it is a better Mac than a Mac running Systerm 7. If I can get a PiStorm or FPGA accelerator that runs Workbench 3, 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3; then I would have a high speed Mac running the softwares.

I also have an A1200 with Fusion emulator that I suppose I can install PiStorm on, but I need the EMPLANT interfaces.

Any ideas?

What are you using Emplant interfaces for?
I use the external and internal SCSI as well as the serial ports. It is connected to Localtalk/Appletalk network serial/ethernet network. My CD rom is on the Mac side only as workbench 3 doesn't really do CD drives. I setup my system such that there the Mac drive and Amiga drives are independent of each other, except for a smaller Mac pagefile mainly for diagnostic in case mac side fails and I had to boot up somehow to investigate or to get my data.

I think you still need to wait if Pistorm ever appears for A4000, and it is not sure if the Emplant would work with it.
Your best choice for now is some overclocked 060 card + fast RTG. Possibly Warp for A4000 is arriving soon.

I see no reason for Workbench 3 not to use CD drives. You can search for a Squirrel PCMCIA to SCSI interface if you really need to use a SCSI CDROM. Or any SCSI peripheral for that matter. You can also use CrossMac to read Mac floppies and drives in general.
