So, I went on Ebay and found a case replacement for one of my Amiga 500's. It looked good enough to buy... So, I did. The story is not all good however.

Here is what it looks like:

I received the package relatively quick. It only took a week or so to come. Not bad considering I am half way around the world.

When I opened the box, there was a nasty surprise waiting for me. The box was in horrible condition and had a hole in it. I was worried about the case being damaged and of course my fear came true.

I contacted the seller and he was really great! He sent me a replacement top with rushed delivery. I got it in 3 days. Not bad!

When building the machine, I noticed something horrible on the back. You are supposed to use nuts to hold the bottom together. I know, sounds dirty... :picard

The screws they give, to hold the back, are way too long. When I tried to screw them in... they destroyed the back of my case.

Sadly, a few smaller screws could have prevented this from happening.

I was able to use some super glue and fix it. Not the best idea on clear plastic... But what the hell! I did it anyways.

I looked in my Amiga screw box and thankfully I found shorter screws.

I also noticed another major issue. The nuts that go in back of the case are touching the motherboard. It's really a bad idea to have random metal touching your motherboard. Or so they say.

The only way I could solve this was to put electrical tape on the bolt. This should be safe right?! Heh.

All said and done... I would like to fix it one day by getting a new back... But meh!

I have to admit, this was an interesting experience. The case cost around $120USD which is ok for what you are getting... But dang, it wasted a ton of my time.

Here are the final results. Even though it was a pain to set up. I really like how it looks. No regrets! It is an awesome addition to my collection.

Thanks for reading.

P.S. There are some colorful records in the pictures. I wanted my guest/work room to have a bit of color.

Well, I think it is cool. Hah!

I think that it looks great! I'm not ready to plunk down $120 for it. But very nice indeed!

I like the extra space. I am not modding my 500 at this point in time. This case is inviting and demands new and crazy add-ons.

I also think it was a bit much on the cost... It should only be around $50USD. Oh well. Everything is expensive now.
