Hi NinjaRabbit, it was really nice to meet you.

Thanks very much for your kind donation, we're going to auction Mr (or Mrs) Lemming off tomorrow in a some kind of high score challenge, there was lots of interest (even people taking their photo with) but didn't find the right home yet.

However I tempted to donate in your name and take him/her home myself!

I was hoping you'd drop by the stall again and meet the others, maybe next time! Sorry it was so hard to find us :(

You too.

You're very welcome.

Let me know how the challenge goes!

Also, I must say, I'm amazed that people were having their photos taken! Wow, just wow.

(By the by, I figure that the lemming's name and gender are down to whoever ends up as the owner! :) )

However I tempted to donate in your name and take him/her home myself!

That's a fab picture.

We did try to, but by that point it was getting insanely crowded with queues for what, as far as we could tell, was a tournament (I've honestly never seen anything like it), and we actually couldn't find our way back! :o

Yes it was very busy for the hours you were there, Saturday is always a mad rush in fact Sunday's are more relaxed if you come next year or future big events (unless of course you like crowds!)

I'm looking forward to a chill out day tomorrow and play some Games, generally enter into as much tomfoolery as possible :D

That's worth knowing - thanks very much. :D

I don't know if I'll be going next year yet, but I hope to.

Tomfoolery?

Today has been a complete nightmare for my machines. My Microvitec Cub monitor rolled over and had field collapse due to the heat (it gets really hot in the hall, with thousands of gamers and loads of machines running). My Electron wouldn't load games, My C64s played up and I spent some time fixing the CDTV again, only to find that we had no software to test it! At least I got an A500+ loading Elite, so I was happy at that.

Tomorrow is a new day and I'll give the Spectrums a try out, as well as hopefully get a joystick adapter made for the Plus 4 and get the VIC-20 up and running. We'll be getting some more Miggies out and I'll see what we can do with a BBC machine (Master, Model B or Archimedes).

Disc for the CDTV is in the car, and I've fixed (oiled) the fan on my Apollo tonight, its a bit quieter now

So far, my hardware has been somewhat reliable - I was almost having kittens when my A500+ wouldn't boot wit ACA500 & ACA1220, howeve, cleaning edged connectors on both ACA500 and A500+ yielded good results, all working now!

Apart from that, my kit has maintained reliability, but we've got another day to go.

I got to play on a lot of arcades, I concertrated on getting on the Sega 'mechanical' machines, lilke Outrun, Super Hang-On, Afterburner & Space Harrier, as these were so populour you had to queue to get on them.

Also had a few games on "Hyper Street Figheter II Anniversary Edition" :) handed some poor guy's ass to him on a plate, then got promptly spanked a few minutes later !!!!

@woody, you will have your opportunity for revenge today...

It was a good day yesterday for me :-) I was really happy I got to meet some new faces, and link up with some old. Highlights of the day for me were Tron pinball and the retro computer museums (well Simons) old school VR machines :-) and of course meeting up at the pub afterwards for a good old Chin wag. See you all again later today!

Yes it was great to put faces with some of the names, everyone looked quite busy so I didn't get chance to have a chat with all of you. Next time!

Was great also to meet Chris Barrie, I've been a fan of his for years lol

Regards

Did anyone else manage to try out the Wings Remastered at the Cinemeware desk?

I gave it a blast and did the "Earning my wings" mission (which in this version you have to complete all three (!) missions, Balloon, Strafing and Bombing).

The graphics look great and according to the producer the game follows the original game almost 100%.

I can't wait to play the full game, apparently it is released on Steam next week and he wasn't sure but expected it to be around 15-20 euros.

Regards

Play Expo - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly....

The Good - meeting loads of old and new faces and getting loads of opportunity to chat to people. Finally getting a Plus 4 to load Elite from a 1541 drive, just to show people something really rare (thanks to Johnim for the help!). Discussing a few tricks of the trade regarding C64 cables with Matt and Chris of Amigakit - us old 'uns still know a thing or two!

The Bad - lots of hardware casualties, I have lots of sessions coming up in the near future. A 500 Plus that I wasn't aware had a battery in it has suffered battery leakage and one of the chips has lost a leg. My Microvitec Cub has suffered frame collapse and a vertical hold fault, not good. One of my Acorn cassette players may have snapped a belt and my Acorn with it's Plus 1 wouldn't load games. I had loads of issues with my 1541 drives and they need some serious servicing.

The Ugly - one of my A500s fell as I was loading the van tonight! It was a really badly yellowed one and wasn't working properly, but the keyboard has taken a hit and lost a few keys :(. Once it's repaired, I'll need a replacement keyboard for it. I'll assess the damage properly in daylight tomorrow.

I'm wasted and I can't finish offloading the works van. I'll drop what remains in the van onto a pallet at work tomorrow and break it down into smaller boxes. My lounge is full of stuff and I can't carry it upstairs as my bad arm has finally given out. I'll have to start moving stuff again tomorrow.

Edit: Found a replacement A500 keyboard that I can use to repair the broken one for £<not much money> from a certain site that may auction one or two things *cough*.

Only just got home! Torrential rain on the South East...

Thanks to all who helped out over the weekend and those who donated items to sell.

Special thanks to NinjaRabbit for the awesome plushy which is delighted to say has found a new home with scooby on these very boards, I must admit I'll miss that little fella.

Thanks to firthy and merlin for your donations to the sales table, together we raised £60 towards the running of Amibay :-)

I'll git up Dave G on pm to sort out some fee free way to transfer the funds.

Lookin forward to the next event and seeing you all again!

No problem. Really glad to hear the lemming found a home - was it via sale or the proposed high score challenge in the end?

Anyway, congratulations to scooby! I made and donated the lemming months before I was able to deliver him to the table, and thus way before the recent news that an official plush licensee has now been appointed. Accordingly, that was the last one of those that I made! Enjoy! :D

Despite checking lots of levels I want able to come up with a suitable challenge however we had a lemmings setup all day inviting offers for our little friend :-)
