She's a bit bashed up, and the poor girl needs some love to bring her back. (At the moment, when you power up, the screen just flashes between different shades of grey and never gets any further) but still, she's an A3000. :-)

Congratulations! My favourite Amiga!!

me to!

me to!

I see now, it is the only amiga you ever need, picked it up yesterday some screens of it:

Skicking it to 3.1 it looks like it makes my other amiga's a little like not needed, somebody should have told me earlier it still runs 1.3 roms

brand new game, this week's release, a gift from my friend mfilos :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

I saw that at the store yesterday. It looked interesting. Please let me know if you like it. :)

@ Viper 630

My collection of high tech Amigas was expanded by an 630 turbo for my little sweet A600. That item was promised to me some weeks ago and I received it on Saturday...finally.

WOOOHOOO :woot:

I've wanted an A3000 for a long time. Good luck restoring her to operational condition!

Today I just picked up a TRS-80 joblot. Someone donated it to me. Got a model 1, expansion box, 2 external disk drives with multiple spare drive mechanisms, speech synth, acoustic coupler modem, tape deck, oodles of software on both disk and tape, and much stuff I haven't discovered yet. I need to pick through the boxes some more, I've only seen what's right on top so far. One neat thing is a tape dubber that will dub from one deck to another without losing quality because it loads all the raw data from the tape into the TRS-80 and then and then out again to a different deck, so there is no loss from analog-to-analog recording. Pretty neat if I do say so myself. Pictures to follow!

Heather

it is OK Heather, it feels like Zelda for the Gameboy which is a win on it's own  the game is supposed to be a tribute to old rpg's , and it is! All the retro-feeling is there, even the chiptun-ish music! Also inside are a LOT of references to other old rpg's too  (you meet some folks that appear to say random stuff ... but not so random  )
If you like Zelda games then get it

Picked these up for £5 each at a local car boot.

Since they where boxed I thought I may aswell keep a couple of nice examples for the future. Actually the one in the black box has plenty of extras like a GoldFinger cart with that spring (remember them?), memory cards, etc.

Behold my new toy:
maciisi.jpg

It's a Mac IIsi, a slightly udpated version of the IIcx, the first computer I ever used. Lots of nostalgy goodness here. I'm in the middle of wiping and reinstalling at the moment, but I just had to take a picture :)

Well, now that I've assembled pretty much everything I wanted, hardware-wise, it's time to show off the thing that brought me here :)

amigat.jpg

This is my Amiga 500, received from a very generous fellow in Colorado who required me to pay shipping via GunPal :p You meet all kinds of interesting people on the Internet... The only upgrade to the Amiga itself is the Kickstart 3.1 ROM.

upgradesx.jpg

These are the upgrades. The Supra Hard Disk + RAM came with 8MB of fast RAM installed and has an 800MB SCSI disk I had laying around (shouldn't be running out of space any time soon!) The Supra Turbo 28 isn't the most powerful accelerator out there; it's only a 68000 and can only cache from fast RAM, but it's easy to install and works reliably with almost everything I've tried. (And with 8MB of fast RAM, it really does make a noticeable difference.)

juryrig.jpg

The Hard Disk + RAM upgrade generally requires a separate power supply, but the fellow I got mine from didn't have it (I think it died on him, but I can't recall.) So he hacked up a Molex connector to the power socket. Luckily, I have a number of old, broken computers laying around my garage, and one of them had a power supply with a built-in on/off switch. It ain't pretty, but it works.

I've also been collecting some reference books, as I love to dabble with programming old systems. Still working my way through the ROM Kernel manuals, but they're surprisingly well-written, so it's pretty easy going.

And that's it! I hope to get a CD-ROM drive to add to the setup, eventually, but for now this is everything I was hoping for. Thanks to all who helped me put this thing together :)

Nice setup John! Probably one of the nicest A500 setups I've seen in a while. :)

I just received my new Sony HDR-CX150 camcorder today! I can't wait to put this on my skydiving helmet and make a few jumps!

^^^^^^

Whilst making those jumps, make sure it's screwed on hard.

Kin

LOL! I will Kinny. :) I made three jumps yesterday in between rainy storm systems. Landing on the grass was like sliding down a Slip 'N Slide!

I got some luck over the weekend and spotted a "Spares or Repair" 1084S Monitor in a second hand shop for £1. Expecting it to be broken I tested it and, well, see for yourself in the pictures. :D
It had an older sticker saying "working but end nut missing". No idea what the hell it means but the only issue I got with it was the bloody electric shocks I got when I carried it after testing. It's from the headphone port so I put some PVC tape over it for now and it's fine. Oh and it's a bit yellow sadly.
I'll have to look into some sort of grounding to stop that.

Also gone a bit Mac crazy recently and am waiting to recive a Mac II and IIFX though these where sold "as is" but I got it cheap enough anyway. :)
