The postman brought me this today

snes.jpg

I was surprised it arrived so quickly from the States using a cheap postage option. Its such a cute little console I must say though its such a shame that even though it has RGB capabilities these SNES2 models were never wired up for RGB. It can be modded but I ain't doing it. AV is fine. Its not like I don't already have an NTSC SNES1 and another NTSC Super Famicom to satisfy my 60Hz RGB needs :D

Not so much of a what I got today, but had a go at making something this evening. I was asked recently if I could machine replacement joystick tops for the Enterprise 64/128 systems using an STL file available online. I'm not sure if that project has copyright or patent so I looked at some photos of the joystick and came up with my own design. Apparently these tend to be mislaid easily? I did this one in aluminium as a test piece.

Nice Protek! It's a fun little device.

I'm picking up my new 55" television this evening. I thought about the 60" but decided it wouldn't fit on the wall as nice as the 55" will. It should be a nice upgrade from the 42" 60Hz model I've had for quite a while.

I bought a 55" LG led tv two years ago. At first I had the feeling that the tv was way to big for the view distance (about 3.5 meters). Strange but now the tv seems to me like a pc monitor rather than a big and wide tv. I wish I had bought a projector instead.

Ed,

That came out awesome!

Excellent work. Maybe you should reduce the size of the hole by 0.2mm and thread it? Then people will stop loosing them :)

Bryce.

Lol, yeah I thought that as well . Or a screw down through the centre with a cap, although more complex.

Me and the brother in law went to the event in Leeds 21st March,

got myself a few boxed Amiga Games, a boxed clean Snes (Mario all stars) + pilot wings cart & the Mrs a Goonies bag.

We got in trouble with the local authorities. :D
These guys are amazing and their costumes look so genuine.

That's the brother in law in trouble :)

My Test Bench has a newish tenant, an Agilent 1670G, 136 channel logic analyzer (a real one, not a pretend one like salaeaea / usbee etc) with the deep memory option and pattern generator option.

This thing is a beast, timing analysis, state analysis, triggering like you couldnt imagine. crazy awesome. Enough channels it view the all the pins on a 68000, as well as the memory bus and perhiperals and more. 136 channels of awesome.

Nicest thing is, it has LAN capability so I can get its X window screen on my desktop over lan and control it there. very cool that it has X-Windows built in (and its not running unix, its a custom HP operating system running on a 68EC20 with 8mb RAM. whole thing runs off ROM even tho it has a ibm deathstar ide disk drive and a crazy format floppy, and something dating back to 1970's rocky mountain basic.)

For some reason I can't view the image, not even when I click the zoom.

I've worked with one of these in the past. A very powerful tool, but quite complicated to set up too. What options did you get with it?

In case you haven't had one of these before, be prepared for a suprise... It's unbelievably loud when it's running.
