Last week I bought this Amiga 3000 on eBay for <Snip>. I managed to spot it literally seconds after it was listed so I bought it immediately. It just arrived a few days ago and came complete with the original keyboard, pregnant mouse, a spare tank mouse, and as an added bonus it also has an A2386SX bridge board and Ethernet board too! It's also the less common 16MHz variant which is neat. The power supply was dead but that was easy to fix by replacing a pair of shorted HV switching transistors and a blown fuse. After that the system booted right up and still works just fine. :D

Here's the sole eBay listing picture...

View attachment 153450

There is unfortunately some battery damage to the motherboard and also a leaking VARTA on the bridge board too, but I'll get those cleaned and fixed up in no time. It's certainly won't be the worse battery damaged A3000 I've had to repair...

You were more decisive than I was. Good find.

Nice find. I hope to acquire one myself some day. We do this to atone for misdeeds in the past... or just for the fun of it. :banghead:

I'll be tormenting myself with a couple of Macintosh systems in a few weeks. Oh joy.

So, I got a headboard for my bed, came Tuesday... think I could find the bolts/washers/nuts that originally game with my bed frame... of course not, so I wound up having to go to Home Depot to get some, $7.00 round trip on the train now, for $4.63 worth of connecting hardware... so I decided to hit a couple of the thrift stores that are around there. also a new toy, procured for me by RuneRider, which was on my 'secondary' list of stuff to get if I ever come across it at a decent price, which it was.

Games/Gamebook
Cover Your A$$ets (Grandpa Beck's Games, 2014)

Cheap Trick at Budokan (Sony, 1979)

Other
Master Merlin (Parker, 1982) (boxed, working, with instructions, cheap)

and now for something completely different...

Aquarius Home Computer System (Radofin, 1983) (boxed/working) (post-Mattel, not a single reference to Mattel anywhere on the machine or in the documentation, Mattel washed their hands completely of this, almost as soon as it hit the stores...)

Well, as you can imagine, not much in the way of Thrift-shopping recently (about a month and a half now), a few bits from my first week in BC, way back in March, they all shut down about 2/3s the way through my trip (when I left Calgary, cases were still low here and ZERO cases on Vancouver Island, first case came (via Egypt) when I'd been there nearly a week...), so I never got to do a second trip around the 6 shops in Duncan (and one other had closed altogether).

I wound up ordering a few things I'd been wanting off Ebay (looking to complete the Avalon Hill Bookcase series of games from the 70s-90s, but theres a looong way to go on that, not to mention the similar Victory Games and 3M series)

Games/Gamebook
Starship Troopers (AH, 1976)
Conquistador - The Age of Exploration 1495-1600 (AH, 1976) (missing about 49 of 560 'counters' unfortunately, bought as part of a lot (+))

Regatta - The Game of Championship Yacht Racing (AH, 1979)+
Baseball Strategy (AH, 1973)+
The Collector (AH, 1977)+
Gold! (AH, 1981)+
Scavenger Hunt (MB, 1983)

The Warlock of Firetop Mountain (Wizard Books, 2009)

DVD Box Sets
On the Buses - The Ultimate Collection (VEI, 2006) (~1969-1973)
Two Fat Ladies Complete Set (4 seasons) (Acorn, 2008 )

Other
7x Craft Storage Cases from the Dollar Store (perfect for game pieces, counters, dice or small minis)

Some Interesting Disks

Some Interesting Disks

I picked these up with a large lot of about 70 original Amiga system/program disks. I now have full sets of system disks for 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 Beta, 1.2, 1.3, 1.3.1, 1.3.2, 1.3.3, 1.4, 2.0, 2.01, 2.03, 2.04, 2.05, 2.1, 3.0 & 3.1.
Does anyone know if these four are rare enough that they should be archived?

Disks01.jpg I also have Amiga Pascal.

Hello,

i like to see pictures of rare items.
Anyway i can only say, maybe on the first release of the Developer CD (back in the '96) there is mentioned of this disks.
I am not sure.

Stefano

Received this morning (June 19th 2020), the very latest 8mb RAM card from Amigastore.eu. Not available in-store at the time of posting this, but received as a free upgrade due to recent problems they had been having with chip suppliers.

Now comes with RTC and built-in wi-fi as standard.

Even came with a hand-written note from Maria in customer support - now that's a company I will be dealing with in the future!

Did a 12-hours round trip to pick up some goodies:

-Amiga 1000 with 1084S monitor, several mice, Amiga 1011 external drive, Amiga modem and roughly 1800 floppy disks.
-100% complete in box A500 early Rocklobster rev 3 board with "chickenlips" keyboard. Trapdoor 512k expansion, Matching serials on the box and computer.
-Upgraded Mac SE with 4mb RAM and 40mg HDD.

Check the battery on the 512K expansion if it has one, before it leaks and ruins your day.

Bryce.

This is my find this month:

https://imgur.com/a/RsEHfEB

386SX 20MHz, 2MB RAM, 43MB HDD 3600RPM, just got rid of MBR rootkit, which was more challenging in 2020 than I'd ever expect. The laptop has floppy drive, but out of 40 old floppies I found only 6 were usable and reliable ;)

Unfortunately it uses proprietary floppy connector, so using gotek was not an option. It uses same HDD connector like Amiga, so I tried to repurpose my old CF and adapter, but the actual problem was configuring HDD in bios for CF:

https://retrocomputing.stackexchang...roller-for-cf-in-chips-leapset-117-r1-09-bios

I will be attempting to upgrade Ram to max 5MB the machine can take so time in the future:

https://retrocomputing.stackexchang...roller-for-cf-in-chips-leapset-117-r1-09-bios

I was not able to find much information about this particular model, but I know there were at least 2 variants of 386:

https://retrocomputing.stackexchange.com/questions/15041/is-this-real-commodore-c386sx-lt

My end goal for this machine is to run terminal emulator with Raspberry pi null modem inside, as there is enough space, so it will he used for SSHing into AWS if possible.

Unfortunately, the battery is completely dead, it takes some weird bulky pack, was jot able to find the cells, will try to build a circuits and replacement pack, if time allows.

Stay safe,

Bartek

Very nice acquisition. I'll be receiving a similar lot in a week or two. You now have me wanting it sooner.

This only going out once a month to do -something- really kind of sucks, been going out grocery shopping just to get out of the house... (I live right downtown Calgary, and there wasn't much for shopping where I am, and we just got a Real Canadian Superstore (one of the largest grocery chains here) 2 block from my house... literally been waiting 14 years for a half-decent grocery store...), but it was sort of thrift shop time again anyways (and a few other Dollar Store/Ebay things)
