Hello, an external floppy drive reached my hands today but I can't find what kind of port is it that it uses. It also has an adapter with SCSI.

Anybody can help?

It appears to be an older Laptop External FDD connector

NEC Versa and IBM Thinkpads seem to have used it (and probably a few others)

I gather some (older) Laptop docking stations may support it...

(eg: the Versa MiniDock 6000 appears to have this port)

I presume it is the same... (might be reversed, perhaps this is specifically for NEC Versa...)

I've been looking at getting a 28in 4k (Acer). You can always make the text bigger in the OS. Above 28in the prices seem to rise almost expotentially and I don't have room for anything bigger anyway.

Bryce.
Scaling still sucks in Windows. I would buy a 28" 2560x1440 or a curved 29-34" 3440x1440 monitor instead.

I got two 27" 1440p ips monitors. works very well. I use a mac though. I considered 4k, but the price was too much and i like a wide workspace. I game on one of them (ps4).

I just received an NOS front cover for my A4000d. It's perfect in every way but that has caused an issue. The drive bay covers on my old cover have never been removed since new and when I unscrewed them the plastic threads came out as well.

I don't want to damage the new cover and am wondering if any of you have seen this and it's normal. If you know what type of screw the bay covers can use that don't damage the plastic I'd like to know.

Got a Commodore SR4190R calculator. The NiCd cells were corroded. One segment line is faulty. I hope it is fixable. Does anyone have experience fixing these? Any schematic available?

If you're lucky it's just a bad contact to the display. If you're unlucky the driver chip is damaged and replacing it is more or less impossibly.

Thrift Shop day...

Books
The Hobbit Companion (HC)(Pavilion, 1997)
Walt Disney CYOA: Winnie-the-Pooh and his Friends (HC)(Bantam, 1987) (this is a CYOA that I'd never come across before...)
Stories from Rudyard Kipling (HC)(Franklin Mint, 1980)
Tales of Edgar Allen Poe (HC)(Franklin Mint, 1979)
Don Quixote de la Mancha (HC)(Franklin Mint, 1979)

Games/Toys
Monopoly City (Hasbro, 2009)
The Settlers of Canaan (Cactus, 2002) (sort of a religious themed knock-off of Settlers of Catan, it looks like... "unused")
Warriors of the Promised Land Card Game (Covenant, 2007) (another religious themed game)
MegaBloks Call of Duty - Odin Space Station Strike set (695pc)(new - unopened)

Records / "LPs"
Air Supply - Lost in Love (1980)
Air Supply - The One That You Love (1981)
Men at Work - Business As Usual (1982)
REO Speedwagon - Good Trouble (1982)
Olivia Newton John - Physical (1981)
Sheena Easton - You Could Have Been With Me (1981)
Juice Newton - Juice (1981)
Juice Newton - Quiet Lies (1982)
Lionel Richie - Can't Slow Down (1983)
Various - High Energy (K-Tel, 1979) (I used to love these as a kid, we didn't have a lot of money to buy albums, and we'd get these when they came out...usually had most of the songs we liked)

all in all, not too bad, just not finding much in the way of vintage/retro stuff (although the LPs come close i guess)...there was a Dreamcast as well as a boxed Intellivoice module at one place, but they wanted a bit too much for them, also a Coleco Flashback for an 'ok' price, but I didn't bother (as I have a ColecoVision and an ADAM, and many carts...)

These came from Japan today. Just about to have a play. The boxes are tiny, I'm actually thinking of collecting more boxed jap games they're so cute :)

No VGA graphics card? No CGA Monitor? No way to connect a CGA GPU to a VGA modern monitor? No problem. This awesome adapter was made after 3 hours of soldering with a friend. Always nice to make solution with your hands :D I made this to test what I thought was a Graphics Card but ended up probably not being one my friend thinks. I think it looks way too similar to one to not be :/ Here is the adapter and the card!

Thing is I found an 1989-1992 Wyse modular PC at the junkyard but the ones that threw it out removed the PSU and the hard drives first. It uses PSU connectors I have never seen before. So I can't test it as a whole right now. I need to find atleast the volts it uses to handwire something like I did with the CGA adapter with other power supplies. I will include a picture if any of you know something about these power supplies.

As some other people are telling me maybe I got lucky and the adapter worked because the card I tested it on was a CGA and VGA card and it supported multisync. I have been told that on a CGA only Card it wouldn't work.

I've been looking out for one of these for a very long time. Missed out on one on ebay becausemy phone never alerted me :( but arrived today! I had one as a child and its just something that meant everything to me. The shape and wheels just do it for me. Front wheel bearings are worn but randomly there's a brand new pair on ebay in France, who didnt know what they were from, till i told him heh. Needs new springs as a little brown looking. Otherwise all the other metal parts are good. Needs stripping n cleaning. Need 2 more tyres aswell. V happy chappy.

I got one as a kid also,, mine is boxed in the loft :)

reason I love it.

suspension, true 4 wheel drive with front end differential. it was amazing for its day.

I completely agree mate, such a fantastic machine. The 4wd makes a huge difference. I just need a good heavy duty set of rechargable AAs and charger. Glad to see someone else had one.

I'll dig it out but mine was WELL USED and looks like it would feel more at home in Fallout 4 :D

I picked up an Amiga 1000 on Sunday. I'm pretty sure it's the first time I've ever seen one in person. Unfortunately there was no keyboard, mouse or disks with it:

After a few tries I managed to get it to accept a kickstart disk and it boots quite happily.

It was pretty grubby and there's some yellowing, especially the back plate of the case. I've given it a good clean.

This one has the daughterboard which, as far as I understand, was only present on early PAL versions. It also has the piggybacking ram chip mod:

The chips are stacked three high! Am I right in thinking that plus the front expansion cartridge gives it a total of 1MB?

Next step is to make a keyboard adaptor so I can use an A2000 or A4000 keyboard with it.

Nice Amiga 1000. Too bad it came without a keyboard, as the original A1000 keyboards can be rare and expensive. I should know since I just got one off the other bay :) I think that is 1 meg chip yes, was looking into doing it to mine, but figured I will leave it as is, hopefully the ACA1000 will have some chip ram(?)

Generally, A1000 with Piggyboard are NTSC.
