I used to have one when I was a kid and for the price i couldn't leave it.
so far I've installed an audio input for loading wav's so I could test the machine (I have no tapes).
Need to find a replacement tape counter too, the original is stuck and the reset button is snapped.

you can put a disk drive on these ;)

but you might want to leave that for a later date.:)

Got a few days back a non-bootleg bomjack 1984 pcb. plan is to make a bartop standalone for it.

Nice catch, the cpc6128 was the first computer I learnt to program on in primary school so i have a soft spot for the Cpc series.

A word of warning though - image quality is good, but not ideal.
The picture occasionally (once in 20-30 seconds) shifts a millimeter or so to the left, then returns to its original position in a couple of seconds.
Also, there's a very occasional, maybe once in a minute, speck of snow. Almost invisible if you don't sit there staring at the screen waiting for it.
If anyone's interested I can make a video, but there're isn't much to see.

These don't bother me much, they're kinda charming actually, like sitting in front of an old telly.
Also, there are three potentiometers on the board that change sensitivity and settings in the menu I don't quite understand - maybe these can do away with the shifting and snow.
Haven't touched them yet.

P.S. Just to clarify - this is regarding the GBS 8220 flicker fixer / RGB to VGA converter

I have a theory that in Denmark the living standard is so high that people can't be bothered to sell used electronics (unless it's something newer) they just chuck them out.

And the landfills, are they well guarded or would they notice me turning up with a shovel and transit van? :D

Very cool bit of kit! It does look brand new.
It would take ages to dig a hole big enough for a transit van! :p :run:

Nice find

Nice find

Been on the look out for a decent CDi for a while and got this 220 for a steal :), I ordered a DVC cart and its all up and running , I am impressed with the game quality and the golf game (The Open) I got with this is one of the best I have played on a console.
Its hardly been used and the only thing needed is a Drive belt as its gone through age.

Just picked up this Game Gear with Manual and Battery Pack from a local Fleamarket. Physical condition is great and it seems to work, but I don't have any games for it (Wanted Post coming soon), so I can't fully test it yet. The Battery Pack is on charge at the moment, but I doubt it will hold much juice. Luckily these use standard remote control car/boat batteries, so replacing it isn't a problem.

Edit: Just opened it up. The usual suspects (capacitors) all need to be changed.

Nice catch, you'll probably need to replace the capacitors on the game gear. The battery is easy to replace, I recently did mine.

lol, I would have thought mine would have put you off after you replaced the caps on it a few years back

The Gamegear Everdrive is pretty cheap last time I looked and would be the way I'd recommend going

Grab something like this

Battery Pack

Of course the original battery is probably dead but they use rechargeable remote control car battery packs.

I ordered this which was very easy to install and works great. Combined with a LED screen mod you can get quite a few hours out of a single charge

7.2v 1800mah NICD

One of these is inside: http://www.amazon.de/2000mAh-NIMH-M...qid=1430513411&sr=8-4&keywords=rc+akku+tamiya
It has three security screws, but with a small pointed pliers they are easy to remove. I've just replaced them on mine with standard philips screws.

@beaker: Oooo, everdrive :) That's a very good idea. Need to check that out. Can it play all titles, or just up to a certain size (like the GB Everdrive)?

Where do you get the batteries or equivalents from? I have 3 of these and running off of AAs is ridiculous :-(

I know mine had an nicd battery bryce, I've heard nimh is better but would not be compatible with the charging circuit so I stuck with nicd. Can I use an nimh battery and is there actually any advantages of doing so?

also GG everdrive plays every game gear game I've thrown at it no matter what size (also plays master system games too) and the latest is updates now allows the use of sdhc cards instead of the 2gb limit it had before
