In this sort of community, I'm sure many of you buy and sell electrical goods through the Internet on various sites.
On the selling side, I've been lucky enough to never have any items arrive damaged, and only ever had one item lost in transit. ( for the record, royal mails insurance is a nightmare to claim from).
On the buying side, we all take a bit of a leap of faith sometimes, especially when buying retro, or electrical goods in general. I'm curious as to others experiences of buying from the oracle we know as the Internet.
Ill start....
I bought 4x 22" LCD monitors of a certain auction site listed as "As new" in a job lot. Planned on 2 for me and 2 for the missus PC. After several reminders, they finally arrived 3 weeks later in 4 individually wrapped lots, wrapped in just brown paper, and here's the scary bit.. NO BOXES!! Just 4 monitors with a loose wrapping of badly torn paper!! Needless to say, they were wrecked!! All the corners were scuffed and damaged, one had the stand broken off, 2 of the power cables which were loose in packaging were missing, and unsurprisingly, all 4 screens were broken!! Well needless to say, I immediately contacted him, and his response was he wrapped them as per Royal Mail guidelines and it was my problem!! Well, needless to say PayPal had other ideas, and I was swiftly given a full refund. Seriously, it takes a special type of idiot to post delicate items in such a manor.
