To be clear on this thread I need to state this:
Prelude is not a Prisma card.
Prisma was produced last year I presume and prelude almost 20 years ago.
Prisma can decode a lot of formats and encode them as well.
Prelude only plays mp3 in realtime with mpegit module.
Both cards, support AHI.
Prisma is a multiformat media player controlled by amiga.
Prelude is a REAL sound card with a codec that makes some modern cards clean the floor with their newer chips. It has audiograde components like opamps ne5532, audiograde capacitors and resistors.
All input audio that goes to Prelude input is filtered and treated by prelude's audio processor and preamp. So mpegit wich has a 24bit DAC gets also this treatment. Its age makes it more suportted on old software than newer cards, there aren't many companies (or almost none) prducing audio software for classic amigas.
AmigaAMP supports it directly.
Samplitude also. There is an excellent emulation for toccatta audio card.
IMO this is the best audio card in terms of sound quality. Uses the same codec as a gravis ultrasound.
So get your conclusions and see wich one is better for you.
Thank you for your time.
