Hello,

I keep having problem installing IDE CDROM in my Amiga under OS 3.2. Drive is visible in Mounter, however each time I tried to mount it I get message "rigiddiskblock not found...". I was under impression that OS3.2.1 has CD-ROM filesystem.

Configuration is Amiga 4000D, Cyberstorm 060 MK1 with SCSI and SCSI2SD, zz9000.

Hopefully someone can help. Thanks

You need to edit the tooltypes of the CD0 dos driver in DEVS/Dos Drivers. It needs to reflect your device driver and unit number. If CD0 is not there, check storage/dosdrivers. It needs to be DEVS/Dosdrivers to automount.

Yes I did that. I've tried unit numbers 0 & 1, both master and slave jumper combination. Drive is visible under system>mounter, and when I click on the mounting option i get that file system error message. Even when i boot the system uding install disk i get that message....

I have never used mounter for CDROMS. I just make sure the filesystem is in L: make sure the CD0 icon references the the correct device driver and unit and works every time. What IDE controller is this and is there more than one device on it?

Perhaps it would be best if you state what make and model of CDROM drive you have and a listing of the CD0 file from your computer.

Seems to me like there is some mis-communication or the incorrect device is being mounted.

Check the back of the CDROM drive and see if it is set to SLAVE and not MASTER.

Also are you able to see what UNIT ID number the drive and Amiga reports via the shell or software? Should be between 0 and 7.

<EDIT>

I am beginning to suspect that you don't have the correct hardware in order to attach a CDROM drive to your Amiga. A direct connect to the Amiga's IDE interface should not be possible since the CDROM drive interface is 40 pin and the Amiga's is 44 pin unless you are using some form of adaptor or interface.

How are you connecting the drive to the Amiga?

This is a basic 4 minute how-to, does your setup look anything like in the video?

It is also possible that this CD-R/W drive has a quirky OEM firmware on it, regardless what is printed on the sticker.............

To conclude this, problem was reading too many guides upfront and bad IDE cable... Since I use CyberSCSI my UNIT ID for IDE CDROM was actually 0. After i replaced IDE cable it worked like a charm.
