If you gonna play games, WhdLoad is mandatory for me. One of the finest tools for classic Amigas; v17.0 just released today. :)

DPaint is a state of the art paint package, but I liked also Brilliance and Fantavision back in the days.
 
Got my key for whdload a while back so that's good to go refuse to use floppies in this day and age :), gonna play about with it all tomorrow and see how far I get, need to get the cd rom drive working 1st :(

Ok I will try this. But I believe in the past I had try it with some other disables also but without luck at all.

Just for start. I like very much the windows menu of the classic workbench. That windows who open with right click.

To summarize, if we exclude the final 32 bit memory problem, the rest OS3.9 work good for you at basic installation? So the only problem is the settings in German language?

What windows do you mean? Context menus with right-click?

Os3.9 is in english, it's the mtec disk that's german.

Gotta get the cd drive running in 3.1 before i can start, unless anyone knows a cheat?

If you dont have an emergency disk, a simple way is to install the Asim CDFS. Work perfectly for me.

I always used CacheCDFS, don't know why though, but I never had the slightest problem.
 
Thanks, managed to get the m-tec setup properly now except for the add32bit app. there is a program called ReAlloc that you add at the beginning of the startup sequence so it plays nice with other ram cards.

Now rocking the full 8mb ram, no crashes :D .

Still can't get the cd drive to work. But I think this is because I'm using the 2.5 hdd ide on the alfapower, ordered a 2.5 to 3.5 adaptor and will try it as a master/slave setup. Hopefully that will solve it :)

Interestingly, some of the benchmarks show the ram on this thing to be twice as fast as a a4000 040 amiga :D
 
Ok, in preperation of my great install, can anyone send me an adf of the emergency floppy that I can modify to boot from my oktagon? just the default disk would be awesome.
 
So is this why you sold me your 1200 - too fast and powerful for you? :lol:

Nah the real reason I sold it is literally because the A500 isn't as tall so it fit's on the keyboard tray for my desk which my old folks bought for me. The A1200 didn't :Doh:

That and I fancied a challenge :D

It is indeed proving a challenge. But I must say with the 020 cpu, this A500 is actually pretty nippy with WB3.1 so if I can't quite achieve 3.9 I'll still be happy enough.

Everything with the A500 feels like a PITA to do compared to my/your A1200. Even things like setting up HDD's :censored:
 
Keep us informed, I would say, I have an a600 with aca630 I really hate ECS in workbench. It is so slow mate... But I am critical, I even find aga not good enough for workbenck these days so..:whistle: But if you like to do games a lot more then enough stuff to enjoy then:thumbsup:
 
Well, managed to get it up and running.....

Good news is, whdload worked perfectly :lol:

Bad news is, browsing the directories was poo :Doh:

Was a fun ten minutes whilst it lasted.

I now have no doubts that when the ACA520 and a ACA1230 when the 520 is released will run pretty awesome on the 500. Just gonna have to play the waiting game now...

In the meantime, I'm going to pimp 3.1 instead as that flies.

So 1st question, newicons: is it possible to just install the program without replacing any of the icons as they're pretty big on a low res screen :lol: just need it for KG's whdload packs really.

Is magicwb still shareware with that annoying popup?

What's the closest easy to setup unarchiving app for 3.1 like the one the one in 3.9?

Lot's more questions, but I feel a tiny bit more enlightened and now kinda regret selling the 1200 :whistle: (I can sense I'm going to be buying an A4000 soon)
