For sale this Quantex 486 DX2-66 PC. It is big and heavy case, really stylish for it's era, similar (same brand) as the LGR Woodgrain PC. The computer has been tested briefly and seems to power on and work ok, but please notice that it needs some work to be put at its best conditions. Issues that need to be addressed:

-The case has scratches and the front panel seems to have been painted white (lousy job).
- The LCD that shows the CPU mhz doesn't power on.
- The barrel battery on the motherboard has started leaking and needs to be removed.

Otherwise it's a great base to make an "ultimate" 486 PC! Here are some photos:

I would just clip the battery off now if I were you, it can only get worse from this point on (and may 'eat' traces on the board underneath, after removing, a q-tip and a little white vinegar where the battery was would also help)

also, I find a 486DX66, if maxed out on memory, a good DOS box and even Win95 setup. (you'll probably want 32MB or more for a decent W95 experience)

(I would also note that this has a Socket 3 board, which in all likelihood means it should be able to take a DX4, and probably 5x86/OD chips)

You're right :) the battery needs to be removed, but I'd say it's better to desolder it rather than just cut the legs.

just looking over the photos, at least whoever manufactured the board was smart enough not to put anything of any importance beneath the battery (other than it's own connections)
