Hi guys,
My name is David, I live in Yorkshire in the UK. I've been an avid PC gamer since the early 1990's when I built my first machine - an AMD PR 100Mhz rig which came with DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11. Before that I had owned a 286 with a green screen and an Amstrad CPC464, as well as a few Sega Megadrives and BBC Micro and Master systems.
Over the last 15 years I've built quite a collection of retro PC gear, enjoyed many hours on projects which I mostly completed. Items mostly bought on eBay, saved from previous systems or from system breaks when helping at my friends computer shop. That place has been a goldmine from time to time. They always saved any ancient and odd looking tech for when I would drop in, I'd persuaded them to stop binning things after I found a couple of HD5970's in the skip outside their shop! I managed to save one of them though.
After a recent move I've realized that I will never really have the time to go through everything I wanted and I also don't have the space. So from advice from my friends over at Vogons I registered here to start to list some of the items I know will be appreciated properly elsewhere by luckier guys than me.
I still game every week, mostly older games but I play the modern games too sometimes (Civilization 6, Metro Exodus etc). I'm a huge Heroes of Might and Magic fan and after too many wasted years playing Quake III OSP I managed to get to #33 in the UK before giving up. No matter how good you get theres always someone ready to kick your ass in the big pond of online gaming!
Hope to be listing stuff soon. I have a week off work coming up so that would be a good time to start.
