Typical marketing BULLSHΙΤ..

It was $35 the time the announced it (some yrs ago)..
UK (Farnell) is £ 29.46 (vat incl) --> € 35.37 --> $ 46 (today's fx rate)

Farnell include shipping in the price

Oh and you need to add VAT which was never on the original price anyway as it was for education.

UK Farnell's prices on their site, are without VAT (VAT is added on the checkout), also there are NO SHIPPING charges (free next working day) **, you pay shipping only when you ask for guaranteed UPS (pre noon/10.30/9.00).

(**) minimum order is £20 for credit card accounts

It's free shipping like everything else that has free shipping - included in the price.

Nothing is free shipping, someone gets paid to deliver it.

The original $35 price wasn't including vat nor including any sort of shipping, paid or "free"

my email today:

Welcome to the latest Raspberry Pi update from RS Components!

Much has been happening behind the scenes since you received our last update, not least the start of compliance testing on the Raspberry Pi.

Why are we doing this? Compliance testing is an essential part of bringing any electronic product to market. The Raspberry Pi is being tested to make sure it conforms to all the regulations that apply to electronic devices around the world. This means that we can be sure the Raspberry Pi we deliver to you meets the correct standards and is as safe as you would expect any electronic device you purchase to be.

We’re working with the Raspberry Pi Foundation to manage the testing process as quickly as possible, while ensuring all tests are carried out to guarantee safety. More information is being posted on the Raspberry Pi website , as well as on our own FAQ pages rswww.com or DesignSpark. We’re also regularly tweeting updates on progress. Follow @RSElectronics on twitter to catch the latest news.

Alongside this, we’ve also been contacting the first group of people who registered for a Raspberry Pi from RS, to help us plan delivery of the initial batch of boards. In next week’s update, we’ll provide more information on how we’re managing the queue and the order process.

From Farnell, mine was originally the end of April, now it's mid May.

I can't wait! More geeky things with wires hanging out of them to play with.

I've got a Fignition here somewhere as well that's fun in a masochistic kind of way.

Imagine typing out a Forth listing using half the buttons on an old mobile phone. That's Fignition!

Although I find this little device really interesting I wont get one just yet as i want to see if someone writes an OS for it thats not linux.

Otherwise I really want to see what this little baby can do.

I`m really looking forward to owning one of these, though not gonna chase getting one for a good few months!
And loving the idea of a cheap arm based solid state loe power linux (match)box :)

any one have specs on them??

because from what i read its kind of like an xbox but really small.. "hardware wize minus a dvd"

Seems like a emulator platform for the masses to me but then again its probably not the 1st thing people would want to use it for. But having said that if i thought it could do all the classics on a decent sized sd card then some 1 els will have too...

Linux + decent front end + emus = WINNING!

As long as its not Linux/Unix and all of thet bull **** yeah i would use it.

No wonder why Windows is top dog of the OS market even if people hates it and I moan on about it every day its still a great OS no matter what version you use.

Linux/Unix to me is a waste of time as its so unfriendly to use. Plus I dont know why people bang on about how good the emulators are for it. Have you seen the versions of UAE on it ?

I would rather the Windows version thanks as everything is there as it should be.

ok rant over lol

Buy a Mac and dump windows - its awful

The aren't shipping the Pi to anywhere until they meet CE standards. Really they did cock up royally as they should have checked beforehand whether they needed it or not instead of just saying they didn't need it because the Beagleboard isn't CE approved. Which actually was incorrect as the Beagleboard XM has a CE mark next to the network socket.
