Another week of great progress on Raspberry Pi!
Our initial batch of 700 Raspberry Pi’s has been shipped out to the first people in our queue (those who registered up to 6:01 am!) We invited these customers onto our special Raspberry Pi online store, and they've now received their order (including some of the essential accessories required) and are busy testing the capability of their Pi.
We're also seeing first user reviews of Raspberry Pi being posted on DesignSpark. Raspberry Pi and Custard looks at whether the Pi lives up to the hype, and our series of Pi Perspectives considers the wider impact of the Raspberry Pi phenomenon. Go to DesignSpark and see the reaction the first shipment of Raspberry Pi has created.
Our second batch of Raspberry Pi's is currently being put together, and we're expecting it in next week. We'll be inviting the next 4,000 people in our queue to come into the Raspberry Pi store and place their order very soon. Volume production is also progressing well, and we have secured chipset supplies to support the huge demand for Raspberry Pi. We really appreciate your patience while we fine-tune the manufacturing process. It's important we get the quality and reliability right, as we want everyone to enjoy their Pi’s.
The really good news is that, within a few weeks, the batch volumes will substantially increase, allowing us to serve Raspberry Pi's to many more people. We'll keep you informed on progress, and hope to be contacting all of you shortly with news on when you can get your Raspberry Pi.

Morning all! First real chance I've had to play with Pi this morning.

First of all, I really need to get myself a HDMI telly. Composite vid is just not doing it for me. Firstly, on my telly at home it's only in monochrome, and here in my workshop on my 1084S it is also monochrome. It is in colour on an old portable TV I have, but wayy too blurry to be of any use.

Pics and things later, but just for now. Just to show off, I'm posting this from my Pi. :D

First things to do, find a suitable powered USB hub and a wifi adapter from my odds & sods box, and then see if I can get FUSE and various other bits and bobs going upon it.

Oops. Couple of pics.

Not likely :P

Not likely :P

Ordered mine last week and it should arrive this week.

:)
You better not get yours next week. Not because I don't want you to have one, but because there are a lot of people who have had them on order for several months. I ordered on March 3rd and mine's not scheduled to be delivered until JULY. If you ordered one last week and it gets delivered this week, I'm going to have some serious words with Newark/Element14 crew :)

I ordered 2 yesterday, one for me and one for my bro. Not sure whether I'm allowed to get 2 though so we'll just have to wait and see.

It's all very exciting, and the applications for such an open-to-experiment device must be near limitless. I remember reading Gordon McComb's book on building robots and his chapter on what computers are good for robot control. He plugged for the smaller mobo ones like zx80, as they're easier to mount on a mobile platform. Raspberry Pi is small enough that you could have several of them, each controlling a different subsystem (sensors, locomotion, manipulators....weapons!).

Ive had mine for about a month or so. Still waiting for raspbmc to mature a little.

Can't recall if I posted in here already but I ordered mine a month or so ago... its due for delivery early September!

Those who are getting them like 2 weeks after ordering... Where you getting them from? If I can order from somewhere else and get one sooner, I'll have a happy Summer indeed...

Me too :)

Same situation here - though I have got it in colour now - it defaults to NTSC over composite, and you probably need to change it to PAL.

You need to create/edit a config file:

From the prompt type

"sudo nano /boot/config.txt"

and add the line

sdtv_mode=2

Then ctrl X to exit and save, then reboot.

Mine arrived today - absolutely stunning bit of kit!

Will be trying MAME and other emulators on it, but it's really to try and get my kids into the idea of creating things...

Works beautifully on HDMI, however I do like the fact that it needs a bit of hacking to get it working well. This is how things should be :D

I ordered mine the other day from Farnell, and received a confirmation pdf today by email.

Apparently I only ordered 1! and it's not coming til mid-August. That's far too long to wait to give to my bro for his birthday at the end of this month, so I'll be getting him something else (not to mention there's only one coming now so I want it :D).

In the meantime, I think I need to try to sell a couple of 8bit machines so that my missus doesn't leave me. After the recent CD32 purchase (it's so lovely), I'll be dead meat if she gets wind of this.

I ordered mine on 4th March from Farnell. It arrived yesterday!

RS are starting to accept orders from people who registered interest, and after being invited to order I think deliveries from RS can take 2-4 weeks...

Ordered from Farnell a few days ago and just used someone's donated confirmation code to order one from RS, too.

I have no idea what I will end up doing with either of them. I don't have a lot of spare time to play with things or write any software. Far too busy with work :(

Still, it's a cool device and I'm doing my bit to support the company behind it.

Isn't it about time there were some £200 Android boxes that I can plug into my TV, hook up a keyboard, mouse and Xbox 360 wired pad and play some games / emulators?

That would definitely be worth a purchase.
