sparc version. Had it a couple of years, its been perfect, totally reliable. Fans are quiet and its been upgraded to the max(?) of 512mb ram (? I think so, I cant recall!).
what does it do? a low power quiet and hide-able networked box:
share files, anything from photos, UPNP and itunes music, to 10gb+ .mkv's to a media player etc.
used it as a backup target from windows
Used it as a timemachine 'drive' from a couple of macs in the house
I never got round to using it in RAID but had 2 drives inside, a 1tb and a 250gb drive AND what seems uniquely good now is that you can plug in multiple USB drives and SHARE off them as well.
gigabit ethernet and a number of usb slots.
I've been playing with another NAS box and freeNAS and found they don't allow sharing NTFS or USB drives unlike the readynas. With internal drives set to sleep after 30 mins and attached USB drives also auto-sleeping i understand the readynas only uses a few watts and has been left on for months without any issue. Admin and plug ins are done via a web interface. Its brilliant.
you'll need to add your own sata drive(s), it will take up to 2 x 2tb internally
In the interests of full disclosure has a few usage scratches on top surface, but is very clean, see in the pic.
£29 plus £6 postage uk only please.
