I dont think life is shitty, though elements of it will turn to s*** at some point of course.
However, retro does transport you back in time, to an era that was, in my opinion, way better. Films, TV and music was far better. In any case, given the cost of modern gaming, retro gaming/tinkering is still a relatively cheap passtime, provided you are not into rare or obscure expensive stuff!
