A girl I know has just me a seemingly sensible text message.

It reads.

Hi ya , I cant text coz my charger has rebroken agen and dont work now do I'll text ya later. See ya l8r x

As I'm now looking for yet another job I can only get hope from the fact that a minority can't spell or speak English - that has to help me somehow! A great percentage of cv's must end up in the bin!

Now.

This message just drives me up the wall!

Like l8tr dudes.
Mike.

She's not a kid but in her mid 20's ! That's the worrying thing

It's lazy texting. Some people even do it on forums :?

In this case though, rebroken agen AND don't work, seems doubly doubly :lol:

Soon written language will be all z's and c's.. 'coz coz'

sloppy english , it drives me up the wall. i mean we all make spelling mistakes and say things wrong, i do it all the time. I even miss words out altogether and I've noticed spell checkers can be a real pain in the butt.

PSU is often changed to puss and things like that but thats just me being lazy and not reading it back...

and whats with the 'da in sentences ? are we all teenage gangsta rappers now?

i mean OMG , LOL

mike.

'da' is SO much easier than 'the' :roll:

Kids (< 30) nowadays are degrading a perfectly good written (and spoken) language :p

at Jon.

what the hell - translation please ! (and yeah i already hate da sms ting) :roll:

my 18 yr old son tries it with me. I know what it means and roughly what he is trying to say but I reply with "? I don't inderstand that, try again". It makes him slightly anoid but I then get a readable text :)

This is what i sent him and from that point i get readable texts "All Ok thanks and you need a better phone your texts are too gangsta for this old man to follow :) "

I have two friends that use text talk without any punctuation at all.

Now they take some figuring out :double and I have to read them three or four times to decide what they are trying to say!!

perhaps they are all shaky fans?

Nay, if thou talk of reason, then be mute;
For with good reason I can thee confute.
If they, which first by nature's sacred law,
Do owe to me the tribute of their lives;
If they to whom I always have been kind,
And bountiful beyond comparison;
If they, for whom I have undone myself,
And brought my age unto this extreme want,
Do now reject, contemn, despise, abhor me,
What reason moveth thee to sorrow for me?

Why do I always have to register to these forums. I haven´t even gistered yet!

Why do all the kids these days refer to everything as 'sick'? If you're so 'sick' then go to see a bloody doctor! Thank god I grew up in the Amiga days before it all went boobs up. Social fabric these days is bollox!

Sometimes I get emails written entirely in text speak. They are far less common since I started simply deleting them without bothering to decipher them. The following conversation goes like this...

"You didn't reply to my email."

"I didn't get an email from you."

"Well, I sent one."

"Ah, I think you need to look at your computer. I did get some total gibberish through from your address but I thought it was just spam using your reply-to address."

Personally I don't really care what kids or anyone else emails between their mates, but when you see emails written entirely in "text speak" being sent between so-called professional organisations it really has gone too far! People don't seem to realise that in the case of incidents or disputes emails can become part of an official record, kept for years.

I am <30 and don't talk (text/email) like this. It annoys me a great deal and have similar tactics to people here - don't reply, or just send them back the email email but decoded with something like "I assume you mean this?"

My sister (she's 10 bless her, large age gap) constantly sends me gibberish. I have a constant battle trying to get her to text me properly.

But of course you don't. I only meant 'kids' refer to < 30 of age :lol:
