Hi

As per title is anyone on here familiar with the Amstrad Mega PC? I have one and two motherboards. One motherboard will boot into the PC side and format a CF card but will not play Mega Drive games. The other will play mega Drive games no problem but reports floppy disk and hard drive controller failures.

Not sure where to go from here, ideally looking for someone who can repair the motherboard. Hopefully using the other for any required parts.

Regards

most likely the battery leaked and corroded tracks? have you looked at that?

Are you using the original Amstrad monitor? If not, you need one that's capable of displaying 15Hz otherwise the MD side won't appear to output anything. I know this as I was watching RetroManCave on Youtube the other day and he got his hands on one of these. It had battery leak damage and he didn't have the original monitor. The PC side would display on his monitor but not the MD side.

Oh man, years ago when I took the battery out I must have snagged the track with the snips. A quick test holding a jumper wire over the break fixed the problem. I feel stupid. Thanks for the replies. Any clues on how to get a cf card with windows 3.1 running?

The other motherboard has some pretty serious corrosion around where the battery was, I think a fix for that is beyond me.

regards
