Hi,

Will a 8580 replace a 6581 sid after changing the voltage regulator for correct voltage ?
I notice the pin out is the same, will it work ?

Thanks

not properly, youd have to also change the filter caps

also bear in mind changing the voltage on an old board changes the vic voltage

Thanks for your reply.
I forgot to add the bit about changing the filter caps to 2200pf.
I might experiment by only changing the voltage for the sid and change the caps.
Its just the 8580 are more available and cheaper.

Thanks

The 6581 is designed to receive 12V on pin 28 while the 8580 receives 9V.

If you directly plug a 8580 directly on boards 326298, 250407, 250425, 250466 or the SX-64, you will destroy the IC. Components must be added to reduce the voltage.
