Hi peep's
Last weekend I managed to find some time to retr0bright my 128D plastic case.
I'm more than happy with the results, I thought you may like to see my setup and equipment I managed to put together.
I hired the lamp over the weekend from the local disco rental store for £30
I had already removed and cleaned the PCB's with isoprop - toothbrush - loads of cotton buds.
the 1571 I stripped as far as I was happy to go, cleaned and oiled - tested with free spirit's drive alignment, it's bang on !
the keyboard had the best before and after change, this took ages to strip and clean. a cotton bud went down every hole...
sprayed the holes after with a silicon lubricant. had to replace the old wonky spring here and there.
but I did manage to take the key's that are connected to the keyboard off without pulling the metal bars out of the plastic sockets.
remove all the other keys first. then you can move the remaining keys left and right, they will un-hook from the plastic hinges.
I could only get hold of cream peroxide, don't mix x2 of xantham, just a dash I found on my 2nd batch worked.
merlin is correct, don't mess with it, the tips of my fingers are still numb a week after...nasty stuff.!!!
