Spotted this on Twitter, which then lead me to the recently set up Facebook page at:

I thought some of you may be interested in jumping on board.

Please note that I have nothing to do with this.

Retrocomputing News is a new FREE online news magazine which will aim to bring together news, reviews, event/show reports and articles on the retrocomputing scene, computing history and allied fields (such as computing education and Raspberry Pi)... primarily, but not exclusively, in the UK.

In other words, while we're reporting from a UK perspective, if anything exciting and relevant comes to our attention worldwide that we think readers might like to know about, we'll do our best to include it!

Of course we cannot do all this alone, and we cannot be everywhere. We will need contributors willing to send in news and photographs, and write reviews, reports and articles - perhaps from their own specialist interests. We may even need help with editing, once we get busy.

Retrocomputing News will, however, inevitably operate on a shoestring budget in the short to medium term, though we hope to attract advertising revenue in due course. In the meantime, we are unable to pay contributors, but we hope that many will be willing to help out for the fun of it, and for the sense of community we hope the magazine will promote!

We especially hope that established retrocomputing bloggers who will already be working in their own specialised field will be interested in contributing, and will see Retrocomputing News as a chance not only to spread the word to a more varied readership, but as a useful opportunity to promote their own blogs and websites, which will be actively encouraged!

So if you feel you'd like to contribute or help in some way, please do post on this page!

You can also contact us by email to: retrocomputingnews@gmail.com

Finally, press releases, news, photographs and items for review will be welcomed from show organisers, clubs, other organisations, software developers, dealers and manufacturers wishing to promote their work, events and products.

As you'll appreciate this is very early days, and we cannot predict the level of interest both from readers and writers, so we're going to be launching Retrocomputing News for a trial period of 1 year on 23 April, 2012.

Why that date? To celebrate the 30th Birthday of Uncle Clive's Sinclair ZX Spectrum, of course!

GAME ON!
