Another part of my childhood has gone.

Gene Wilder, who played the original Willy Wonka in the 1971 film (and the better version IMHO), along with lots of other classic films such as See No Evil Hear No Evil, Stir Crazy and another absolute classic, Young Frankenstein, died today at the age of 83, as a result of complications as a result of him having Alzheimer's Disease.

RIP, you will be sorely missed. :(

Willy wonka choclate factory flim? I have watched quite lots and it is Classic flim

Rip Gene Wilder, aka Willy Wonka

Wife told me about this earlier, sad news indeed,

my favorite was see no evil hear no evil. what a gem. my 6 yr old enjoyed the original Willy Wonka,

See No Evil, Hear No Evil; one of my favourite comedy films together with Richard Pryor.

RIP Gene.

I always thought he was best in The Frisco Kid. Playing opposite someone so strikingly different as a young Harrison Ford...

Thankfully he leaves behind a long string of comedy classics. This is a good excuse to binge on some Wilder :)

RIP

Young Frankenstein was an absolute staple of my childhood. It will definitely be getting watched in tribute.

"The name is FRONKENSTEEN!! (Notices the scalpel stuck in his leg) Class dismissed..."

So sad to see the news, he was such a unique actor who really seemed to speak through the screen, will have to have a Gene Wilder movie marathon this weekend. As one poster said already, another part of my childhood died.
