hi all,

ok this is going to be such a looooooong shot so hear goes!! :wooha::help:

is there such a thing as a parallel port rj45 ethernet adapter?! i know there are serial cable to pc cables but... no pc! id rather not go the bnc way if pos! its for connecting to my network and via that the net!

my cd32 with sx32 has some nice handy ports on it which i want to use! its also got a cf card with latest version of wb (not 100% sure as it was pre-configd and never thought to ask version number! doh!) so its basically an a1200!

now keep in mind i have no pcmcia slot, rather not perform surgery to add hardware and im just after interfaces etc

soz if this makes little sense, im kinda new to this (i was/am a c64/c16 user and the cd32 is a newish thing to me and my partner grew up with cd32 in a basic sense

There are such things a parallel port Ethernet adapters, a quick Google turfed up some 10base-2 ones, but 10base-T should in theory be possible. The tricky part is going to be finding Amiga drivers for one.

In fact, I'm surprised this hasn't been covered more widely. This would make a very simple and basic network setup for just about any Amiga...

Maybe something like this...

the plipbox may be a bit adventurous (well at the mo anyway!)

the xircom on ebay is in the maybe list... any others come to mind?

im sure there are netgear and dcom versions out there... just not exactly many rj45's! even then drivers are needed!

The kicker is down to driver support. I'd see if you can find which (if any) are already supported on the Amiga and make a purchase based on that. It's no good buying a Netgear or a Xircom if only the D-Link one has Amiga drivers...

As Andy rightly pointed out the hardware is not a problem. The problem is the driver to support it.
AFAIK Pilpbox is the only hardware to have the driver support. Do correct me if I'm wrong ;)

ah yes! grief im not with it today!

drivers are the prob... gotcha (finally!) ;) so the diy method is best :) i will try it soon!
