The Card arrived and sadly does not work.

The volume is very low and also sounds are distorted and do not sound right.
I have exactly the same Soundcard and wanted to buy this as a replacement so I could compare the two cards in the same PC with exactly the same settings

That is totally unexpected and unfortunate. The card was tested extensively before shipping using the Roland Audio ToolWorks. The MIDI and Wave playback was perfectly clear. I’m eager to know why is it not working properly, PM sent.

If I may give my 2 cents here as i have the rap-10 and had this issue. When i used the card in my everyday retro pc everything was fine, the PCM sound will be distorted in some games due to buggy drivers, no way around that. When i had the card out of the pc for some time, due to old age, the capacitors discharged and would give me very low volume and distorted music for maybe an hour before charging and playing normal again. This is due to old caps and since I recapped it works like a dream. So, if you have someone who knows how, replace the caps with new ones. I had this issue with 2 cards so I can see the pattern.

yeah I can also attest to this, RAP-10s need recapping as the caps are leaking by now and have the potential to cause serious trace damage

Sounds logical! Thanks guys. I have already installed the card again and will let it run for a few hours and see what happens.

I will then see if I find someone close to me that can do this recap.
Do you know where one can get the original caps for the card?
Thanks

Nippon (seems like OEM) or Nichicon SMD audio capacitors should fit perfectly, they are the same color and size.

They seem to be 100uF 6.3V and 47uF 16V for the most part.

They are available on DigiKey.

The volume of the card has improved but not the same yet as my own Rap 10. The distorted sounds are also not clear yet. I will have to try to replace the caps and because I cannot do this alone and also there is a risk of damaging the card, I have asked the seller for a partial refund.

The seller has denied this and offers that I return the card to him and he would fix it then and sell it for much more then.
He said replacing caps on a Roland card is like an oil change in a car and I have to expect that when I buy such a card.
I disagree with this statement as the card was sold in perfectly working condition…
Since the seller only wanted payment via PayPal friends and family I’m very hesitant to just send the card now back to him in the hopes that he will indeed refund me. I hope this makes sense.

To conclude this here I can only warn everyone here again from using PayPal friends and family for payments to Slot1 and will now try and get my money back from PayPal anyway.
Sad that it has come to this but it is what it is.

Thanks all for reading and trying to help! I will update here in a few weeks how the recap went 😀

Yes, a complete refund is possible after the card is received (unmodified and in the original packaging). There is no need to be concerned, even on other platforms it works in the same way.
