Hi peeps,

I got caught out today by RM's price restructuring, I expected from April 1st but looks like I was the April fool

So guys just double check your postage quotes to avoid any unexpected surprises.

Steve.

yeah they going to jack up them prices now they are a listed company, but will still rather use em than `My Herpes` :D

i will still use them for small packages,no chance on anything slightly larger.

some of the stuff i have would cost a kidney to send...

nearly every parcel delivered by `My Herpes` has had damage and its so obvious its like its malicious:blink:, if they had not been bubble wrapped so well it will av been claim time,I know their private individuals trying to make a living but hey why take it out of the people who pay their wages? very strange

If I owe you some more roy just let me know bud don't want you out of pocket

Personally I rather contact Herpes than use them to deliver a parcel for me. :picard

There are alternatives though and Herpes isn't as cheap as it used to be either so is any saving really worth it anyway?

I have a Royal mail account so I did get a bit of notice but yeah they make it difficult to know what prices are gonna be. There were bookelts available but with some of their service changes these are a tad confusing (especially overseas delivery). It wouldn't have been so bad if the online price finder was set up in such a way as you could work out prices in advance of the changes but in fact the price finder was offline until this morning. The bunch of :censored::censored::censored::censored:'s

I know the feeling .... I just don't want the blame for it

you wont get the blame mate:lol:

EDIT: well, you might do,if you happen to work for royal mail in any way....you do?... i want my sweeties:p:D

Royal Mail have always increased their prices on the first week of April every year. They didn't however increase the stamp price of a letter last year, which is probably why many didn't notice, but they did increase large letter and parcel prices.

This year all prices have increased because they have to charge an amount that reflects the true cost of processing and delivery. Fuel prices and the falling volumes of letters all add up to increased costs.

Normally it is the 1st, but they decided this year to use the Monday instead. I was surprised the price rise wasn't better advertised or mentioned more on the news.

I really should have warned everyone on here last week so you could have included the change in your current trade shipping costs.

You can find the new prices on the Royal Mail website.

Most rates have only gone up by a few pence.

Do any of you use Collect+ ?

I have not had any problems with them and there tracking service is pretty good.

All items I have sent through them as made it in 1 piece. And I agree about Hermes. Had nothing but issues.

I have found world zones 1 and 2 have increased the worst. It's very sad for our Aussie friends as I think they'll soon be priced out of stuff from the UK (if they have been already)

Yes my last 5 transactions here where I sold was with CollectPlus.

I sent a 8kg package in a big padded box for just over £9 and it arrived in 2 days.

Everything good so far.

I haven't used Collect+ in a while as the shop isn't too convenient for me, yet they call it a convenience store? I don't get it... Anyway, I use Herpes for anything which is indestructible such as a hard back book packed in a flame proof box with lots of padding.

Anything delicate I've been using UPS Access Point, it's about £8 for most stuff even big heavy items and they seem to take good care. They even have a cheaper shop to shop service.

I noticed RM's 2nd Class Small Parcel price is down to £3.80 up to 2kg, that's pretty good value as it was £5.60 before and the main reason I was using Herpes for my 1-2kg packets.

Yeah, a few of the parcel prices have actually dropped. The small parcels especially as they are now just in 2 weight ranges (1KG and 2KG). Also a couple of the medium parcel costs have also dropped, whereas others have risen. 2nd class has definitely gone up more than 1st overall this year.

I really wish they would just scrap 2nd class postage and send everything by a single postage stream. The reason behind the 2 classes is to reduce delayed mail. If the mail volume is large one night then 1st class can take priority and second left to one side until the 1st is dispatched, then either the same shift can then clear the 2nd, or it can be left for a later shift, or the next day (as the target is 3 days for 2nd class). However, in Southampton we clear both every night.

Not to hi-jack the thread, but have you seen what Canada Post is doing? Monday, they raised the price of a first class stamp to $1, and they are slowly phasing out all home delivery service- yep, they are laying off all the delivery personnel and opting for neighborhood "superboxes" that are in some cases 3 or 4 blocks from people's homes and having outsourced a guy to dump the mail there. Not too bad in the summer, but a real drag in -30 weather.
