Scandoubler/FlickerFixer Problem

Hi,

I purchased a scandoubler/flicker fixer (http://exposedtechnology.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/P10104511.jpg). I plugged the scandoubler into my LCD's VGA port and saw Chinese characters (apparently meaning scandoubler). After that I started to try it on my various Amigas, and I encountered the following problems:


1. I plugged the scandoubler 23 pin video cable into my Amiga 4000's video port - blank screen.

+2. I plugged a 5V 2A adapter into the scandoubler - blank screen.

3. I plugged the scandoubler 23 pin video cable into my Amiga 2000's video port - nothing.

+4. I plugged a 5V 2A adapter into the scandoubler - green screen. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guJWCDbXtL0)

+5. I plugged a 5V 3A adapter into the scandoubler - flickering grey/black/white screen. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVaHrpyBQls)

6. Same results as Amiga 2000 as on my Amiga 1000.

So my question is this -- does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Might I have more success if I use RGB from scandoubler to LCD? Could the unit be defective?

Would something like this work better? - Buy It Now links only please.

Hi there, what you actually bought is a GBS-8220 video converter 'dressed' in a neat box. They usually have issues, but i seem to remember this type of gear has been discussed quite a lot around our Amioracle department.

I use 2 for mine and they do work

I figured I was looking at an 8220, and I read as much of that thread as I could before I stumbled on a post from a guy with a similar issue.... I read 5 or 6 pages past it and didn't see solution that worked for me, so figured I'd ask someone and give as much info as possible.

Thanks for the manual -- I tried googlie GBS-8220 manual before and never got anything like this.

As for progress - so I played around as much as I could. I chose RGBHV. I pressed the Down/Auto button for over 5 seconds - it appeared to reset; however, no change.

I then scrolled through the menu selecting the appropriate display resolutions, and these images are the most I could come up with. 3 amigas, 3 seemingly different results.

Virtually identical controls as the 8220. I'm thinking it may be either the cable or the hardware itself that's not working at this point. Based on the images and video I've provided - does that seem a reasonable assessment if I've tried all display resolutions / input options / with and without adapters (5V 2A & 5V 3A) / on 3 different Amigas?

you have an external power adaptor?

unplug the lead with the red and black wires that go next to the power in socket and try again with an external power supply.
dont use both at the same time.

just tap the down for no more than 1 second so it searches for a signal.
do that at the workbench screen not the kickstart screen.

also,check the input your using as its not he one you think.

Unplugged the the 2 power cables (the ones in the power socket right beside the external connector), plugged in a 5V 2A adapter, tried all resolutions - all inputs - tapping for no more than 1 second, and from workbench screen - no difference. :huh:
