I have an SD Disk ][ emulator for my Apple IIGS, which is also able to emulate hard disks, although not very fast. The emulator firmware is constantly updated which causes me to open up the IIGS every time I want to upgrade it. I wanted to spare the latches of the IIGS case top so I thought I'd get an extension cable for the SD card. The extension came in its own casing but I really didn't want it just hanging outside of the computer case so I thought to I'd make a bracket for it.
I designed the bracket in AutoDesk 123D Design. I wanted to be able to utilize the the port openings in the back of the IIGS, so I used the dimensions of the parallel port.

I had the bracket 3D printed by a friend of mine and I think it came out pretty nicely. Had to do a bit of manual modification to make it fit better though. I've since updated the 3D model accordingly.

The other end of the cable goes to the SD card reader of the SD Disk ][ and the bracket is installed on one of the port openings.

There is one issue though. The SD Disk ][ will not read the SD card if it's in the extension. Is the cable too long or is it getting too much interference? Can this type of flat cable be shortened or should I just use regular flat cable instead?
