Hello.

I'm looking for a good video converter and scaler that would take analog VGA input and convert it to digital, be that DVI or say HDMI, and of course to do decent upscaling.

I know there are various XRGB devices from Micomsoft, but seem like those are primarily intended for consoles instead, whereas I'm looking for something that is more suitable for a retro PC that would support text modes correctly and lots of others. Mostly DOS era games, may be a few early windows 9x titles. Currently I've got startech vga2hdmipro (got it cheap thankfully), which seem to be okay so far, but after a while I began to notice there are quirks with colors, inaccuracies here and there, noticeable delay between mode switching and a lot more. It works but perhaps there's something better? A while ago I've contacted Epiphan (they make various capture devices) but they basically said their current line up of devices support minimum 640x480, so everything lower and textmodes might not work, and given the price of their products I'm not willing to buy just to find out if that's the case. What about Micomsoft's XPC? Unlike their other products there's seldom any information about those devices I could find, and from what I've gathered they are primarily intended for japan PCs like nec and sharp, so I'm not sure that one either.

Does anyone have a good experience with these kind of devices and might have a suggestion? Thanks.
