hi peeps.

anyone got a version of flashback for the sega cd?

im asking because im wondering if anyone has got it to work on a mega cd mk1 in the uk with region free bios,i cant get mine to work for some reason.everything else i tried worked...
ive tried it in ntsc and pal and it just locks up the system when its loading you cant even reset?

thanks.

EDIT: im trying to download the pal demo,i have a theory...
EDIT2: pal demo dont work either,hmm..i think its some kind of lockout

Is that booting the bios from the everdrive or a physical region free bios?

I've read about problems booting with a bios from the everdrive. You can find the US/Jap/Pal bios files online pretty easy so worst case you could burn the US bios to a chip and try it?

hi mate, its an actual physical region free bios that i fitted inside the mega cd mk1

i have just found out it is the bios itself(by pulling the bios and using the bios that was in it then playing the pal demo),and its only happening on this game...even though its region free.must be some kind of really good lockout.
ill try to get a copy of the bios for the megacd mk1 ntsc American version,or find someone who dont need it or something and get it that way. or burn one to an eprom.

what bios do you use roy?
i buyed my mega cd1 from scrappy and flashback working fine from everdrive, gona test it later to see what it does without it.
seems this the latest bios files from the readme, believe i found them on assemblergames.

Region free BIOS files for MEGA-CD/SEGA-CD.

USA and EURO files have a new functionality which allows for skipping the SEGA logo.
This new function helps booting some Japanese games with region protection coding in them.
To enable that function, keep the button "C" on the first controller held during the disc boot.
For normal boot use "A" or "START" to start the disc.

The ASIA BIOS files had been reworked just to keep the standard of patching uniform.

Happy gaming.

I may have a us sega cd model 1 original bios chip around here somewhere mate. I recently sold my sega cd (us version) and had fitted that with a multi bios so I know I have the original us chip here somewhere

this is my version flashback checked with scdtoolz v3.55
i startup megadrive with jap bios and put flashback in the tray and close the tray.
now i rebooted my megadrive and game not starting, goes to player, also in pal mode.
when i change the mode to us,then i have to press start and the game starts fine.
it seems strange, like you said,my jap and pal bios also are region free.
buyed the system with megadrive v1 here from scrappysphinx.
gona test with mega everdrive now.

started megadrive with mega everdrive in pal mode with flashback in drive.
started the bios file from oliveira and game worked, without everdrive, and use megadrive in pal mode, game doesnt start for me,also in jap mode.
only in us mode the game starts.
tried also megadrive in jap mode and with everdrive, started pal bios and game works here.
and at last i started megadrive in ntsc mode with everdrive and started pal bios, and game works fine.
i think the bios in my scd and yours are older bios files burned to eeprom, maybe those new ones fix this issue?
can you roy or scrappy burn an eeprom with those bios files?
will pay you for it.

as far as i know the game was only released in the us(full version),ive already tried it in pal it was a no go.

i do have the us bios for the mk1.. but i cant burn the eprom(27c210 i think) as my main pc is still down...like i say,all the others work fine, its really strange.

does anyone know some others not known to work?

i think with those new bios files, they are from 2014,the game starts fine,as i tested it with everdrive.
and indeed that game was only released as ntsc version, just checked it.

Roy im popping round your house!! (I did trade me segacd in for my amiga 1200 back in 93)

just received multi region free bios eprom and started to test.
now flashback started in jap-pal-ntsc mode fine.
so i got 3 bios on 1 eprom, all region free.
