I had hopes of using this a lot more, but sadly it's not likely to happen. It works fine and I was able to play Space Hulk on it with no problems. Sadly Command & Conquer doesn't seem to want to load for some reason. I did have a couple more games for this and they ran fine, so it may just be a duff disc.
It comes with an extra third party controller and SCART lead.

I'm looking for £25 plus P&P.

Is this one of the models that's easier to mod and are the chips still available anywhere?
Not declaring interest at the moment just wondering.

Thanks

There is a 85% chance that its using the 20 pin drive controller,as its the first model with oval buttons, and those are generally more difficult to mod, but lately theres been some revisions of the mods that's released with 20 pin connectors so you dont need to alter the chip itself :)

To be a 100% sure op will have to open it and check,by counting the number of pins on the ribbon cable going to the cd controller.

That being said [SNIP], I would jump on it if it wasnt for the fact that shipping would kill it for me :/

I know of somewhere that will provide you the chip for around £20 sphinx, either the 20 or 21 pin one. The pin counting thing is easy, even I managed it! The guy who modded it for me did it with ease even though it had been 5 years since he'd done one. Its a great machine.

Thanks for the info guys, i messaged Rob Webb a few days ago who said he does have the universal 20 and 21 pin modchips available.

So declaring interest. Shipping cost to Nottingham please Phil?

That sounds bit too high, so I'll withdraw, even though not next in line. Thanks.

I think, that puts me next in line (correct me if i'm wrong).
I'm still interested and will send a pm

Thanks

Received today. Slight problem at first with it reading both games as karaoke cd+g discs or telling me not suitable for this system. A quick google advised cleaning the laser with some IPA on a cotton bud and that seems to have done the trick. Even the Command & Conquer game working now. Played through 4 missions so far :)
Now to get onto Robb for a modchip and find out about installing the 50/60hz switch.

Thanks Phil, feedback left.

Mike

Glad you're happy with it buddy, and pleased that you got the game working well.
Enjoy. :)
