I used to have a nifty extension that added a scrollbar to any CLI or Shell window, which would let you review things that "fell off" of the top of the screen (directory listings, text files etc). Can't remember what it was called or I wouldn't be asking :)

I already use CSH as my preferred shell, which has a command line history built in, so I'm just looking for something to just add a scrollbar to CLI/Shell windows (and nothing more!) which can store a few pages worth of text.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

KingCON.

I know you want "nothing more" - but tough. :D

OK Ta - the reason for "nothing more" was to ensure that I didn't have two programs fighting each other trying to do history buffers, filename completion etc.

Has anybody run KingCON and CSH together, and are they happy housemates?

KingCON can be used as a full console device replacement or you can use it "standalone" - i.e. you can have normal shell window (or CSH if you prefer) and a KCON window open at the same time.

Ed: It might work as a CSH enhancer also, just like it does when replacing the normal CON: device... I don't know.
It does TAB-completion too though, along with all sorts of yummy stuff, so suck it and see. It depends on quite what CSH is doing, KCON is intended to replace the original console.

Ed2: You do know that the standard Shell (since WB2) has a command-line history anyway, don't you?

Thanks - useful to know.

I think I'll try it in standalone mode to see if two TAB-completion tools work together or I end up with some bizzare mix.

Yup, it's just that I was using *nix machines a lot (the last time I used this in earnest) and CSH was just what I needed, particularly scripting across both platforms. It's now part of the machine!.
