Hi

If i have a C64C or G with a new type motherboard, can I use the swinsid as 6581 and 8580 too?

Reagards,
Joe

Hi,
the C64C or G have the SID 8580.
The swinsid can be configured to work as SID 6581 or 8580, it's enought to set the jumper:
J1 set ->8580
J2 set ->6581
Of course you can also install in the C64C the swinsid configured as 6581. It will work and the sound will play as the 6581.
Electrical compatibility is guaranteed, the jumper only act on the swinsid sounds filters.
Let me know if I answered you question.
Regards
Tony

Hi!

Do you have to turn off the computer to set the jumper? What if instead of jumper one would install a switch and changed from 6581 to 8580 and back while working/playing a tune?
Regards,
