I have played

Amiga version of SID MEIER'S CIVILIZATION and I have to say it can be very Addicted game when you get into...

For PC Version....I have played SID MEIER'S CIVILIZATION 2, 3 and 4.....They are good game....

SID MEIER'S CIVILIZATION 5? They had lots of patch on them and I have played the demo but it very time cosuming !

What your Fav SID MEIER'S CIVILIZATION Series and why?:)

My favorite so far is Civilization IV with all expansions. It is the most interesting and equilibrated game with multiple victory conditions, and still nice by today graphic standards. Besides, it is working perfect on the 2011 generation of AMD netbooks.
The real classic game is still Civilization II (or the I for the really hardcore gamer, as they are almost the same except graphic enhancements).

My favourite is Civ 2. I keep coming back to it. Followed by Civ 4. Civ 3 and 5 I didn't really get into.

Civ 2 is actually quite different to Civ 1, enough so that they give a difference gaming experience.

There are a lot more bugs in civ 1, and the game balance has been tweaked a lot so you can't cheese the game with simple strategies, like the despotic ostrich (well, its not as easy in Civ 2) and its much harder in Civ 2 to get a spaceship launched 1000AD. :) There are also a lot more military units to flesh out the game balance, eg in Civ 2 there are a lot more units between knights and armor, whereas in Civ 1 Knights were basically the best unit for half the game. You also don't need to cover the entire map with railroads and probably the most significant difference is the new battle system - in Civ 2 units have hitpoints so they have a few rounds of combat before one loses, but in civ 1 its a single round, so you end up with really strong units dying to weak ones (eg spearman defeating a battleship).

I also recommend Alpha Centauri, its kind of like sci-fi Civ 2 with many enhancements of its own, probably one of my favourite Sid Meier games. Colonization is also excellent but it only focuses on the American settlement and revolution, and the gameplay is more focused on trade and developing your cities rather than wiping out everything on the map.

I've been playing since Civ 1 on the Amiga too, and I have to say that Civ 3 is by far my favorite. It's the only one (in my opinion) that truly allows for massive roaming armies and a very strong military focus. I CAN play the diplomatic route, but really I just like getting up to around the mid 1900s and destroying everything. Civ 5 is way too structured for my liking, and Civ 4 just seemed too unpolished. I actually really dislike how Civ 5 is a throwback to the old Civ 1 with the "one unit per tile" dealie. And I don't remember Civ2 that much, to be honest.

You could stack multiple units in one tile in Civ 1.
The 1UPT thing is new for the series in Civ 5 and I personally dislike it because it makes managing movement of armies a real pain in the arse and slows the pace of the game down dramatically.

For me its prob Colonization, an offshoot of the series. More specifically the Amiga version. :p

My favorite is CIV2 and I'm always coming back to it with pleasue. Every game is different. And I always wanted to play it on Amiga (sadly Amiga version was never relased :( ) - but my dream is to come true as I bought MAC version of CIV 2 and plan to run it under MAC emulator on my 060 A4000D

I played a lot CIV 1 on my A500 before I tried CIV2. It was a lot of fun but aftrer CIV2 it was hard to play for me as I was missing some game improvments i.e. S.D.I. defense. Besides CIV2 is more complex than CIV1 but there is good balance between complexity and fun when I play it.

I tried CIV3 and CIV4 for a moment but I didn't enjoy those games as much as CIV2. CIV5 is out of my interest so far as I heared it's very bugy.

I also played Colonization on my A1200, it was fine game as a strategy for Amiga but not so good as CIV1 (different historical background and goals to achive). I finished it once and never returned to it again.
