Hi folks,

Selling an SGI Octane (Model cmnb015anf195) that I'm not going to use after acquiring it a while back. Powered up today and all still working fine. I don't know an awful lot about this machine other than it has 2x225Mhz Processors installed and 512Mb RAM with IRIX 6.5 installed.

I believe the graphics card installed is pretty good as well but I've set it to 1024x768 to get it to display on my LCD.

You'll see from the photo's that it has a VGA adapter / converter included as well.

This machine is Extremely heavy therefore would prefer pick up.

Now included in the deal is a spare Octane (front door missing); a spare PSU and a spare Processor.

Looking for £350 for all of it now.

Cheers

John

Dude, SGI OCTANE!! Mmmmn!

I'm pretty tempted to have this sitting next to my Indigo2 but I just havent got the space, or the budget for it. Damn!

Good luck with the sale John.

Hehe - thanks :)

You could always make me an offer?

Is the spare machine of use to you (it's the same but without the door)

You're evil dude. Trying to temp me like that. I'm doing my best to resist as it is!

I'm really not in a position to make you an even halfway reasonable offer at the moment though.

The spare machine won't have much that I can use for the Indigo2. Apart from maybe the hard disk, if it has one. I think Octanes use 80pin SCSI though so it would need a wee adapter to be used with it. Have you had it open? Maybe there's bits of it you can stick in your working one?

Hehe - sorry - had to try

I haven't opened up the spare yet to see what's in it but that's an idea. I should really see what's up with it so that I might be able to get it up and running and have 2 working ones lol

Cheers

OK - I've decided that for the Amibay community - I'll include the spare machine and the spare processor and the Spare PSU in the deal for £350 in total (pick up only of course because of weight - or can deliver / meet etc within 50 or so miles of Glasgow).

This is quite a bargain if you look at the other Bay but I would rather it stayed in this community if at all possible....

hi Brataccas

Making an Offer

If the seller has stated that they will accept offers then you must post in the thread to state your interest then send a PM to the seller with your offer.

no worries, just in case i come across it in one of my items for sale :)

Cheers for the heads up.

Cheers,

In case you aren't aware - looking at some of the sgi sites [eg ian's sgidepot], there's quite a premium for sgi's depending on the graphics option installed and especially whether an octane has a pci cage - *doh* just seen that you screenshot is readable [for some reason I thought it wasn't].

nekochan.net is also an sgi-specific forum with hardware trading section - specialist audience etc:wink:.
