Thanks Tom, no worries, I really don't think the ram sticks could do any harm to the cards, it could be because of static or who knows what else. Thanks for your help.
The SIMMs you bought are double-sized? If the previous modules were single-sized, you probably need to change the jumper setting on the card accordingly.

Yep I did that and no joy. As I said I also reverted to the initial setup prior to the replacement and the system still won't boot or prompt for a disk.
