Hello all...

I have an IDE-to-CF adapter in my A4000D, and it appears to be working fine -- I can read/write/boot off the CF card, etc. BUT: I have a 2GB CD card inserted, and the Amiga / HDToolbox only recognizes 1GB. It seems to think that is the max capacity of the drive, and is the largest partition it will allow me to create.

I'm aware of 4GB partition limitations under some circumstances, but not 1GB?

I'm pretty sure the card is a genuine, legit SanDisk. I've had it for quite some time.

What do I have wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure what I did differently, but I just started over with HDToolbox. "Change Drive Type" > "Define New..." > "Read Configuration" got me the correct values to see all 2GB this time! Hooray!

Hdtoolbox doesn't see the full capacity of memory cards straight away... You still need to do the procedure above as you discovered.

Well done to getting the problem solved... Every day is a learning day :)

It just showed up on-screen in my "similar threads" feed ... Out of the ether.

Besides, you can guarantee that somebody will rediscover this solution to the exact problem they are having.

Think of it as future-proofing

@miggymad I had completely forgotten those similar threads and was honestly wondering where/how/why you found it 🤣🤣

@darefail FWIW a three year old necro-thread isn't the worst example I've seen ... there are plenty more older one's than that which pop up every now and again in the 'similar threads' section.

@miggymad That one is from the Sales Archive.

They could be helpful for members investigating an items worth lol
