Some have still never used the internet!

It's hard to believe that there are still people living in the UK and other western countries that have only had minimal contact with the internet and computers, or even none at all.

I work with something the same age as myself, and he has never owned or used a computer! He has a Playstation 2 though so does know something about what computers can do.

Last year he got his first ever smartphone for his birthday from his mum and this was the first ever access he had to the internet via 3G. He has been amazed by it and hasn't been able to believe how much cheaper he can buy things from places like Amazon, compared to the highstreet, and the ability to find things he though impossible to buy any more.

He has still only accessed and used the internet via his smartphone though so hasn't actually seen the full glory of what he could do, or how a website looks on a full sized monitor. He has been fascinated by Youtube though.

I find this really had to imagine.

Do you know anyone without any experience of the internet, or even computers, in this day and age?

i have a few friends that dont have internet but have older computers,amigas c64's speccys etc.

so,im not really surprised.

I'm not suprised either. I know a lot of people of various ages that they don't use internet at all, or just say the minimum of it. And for me they do the right thing. Sitting in front of a monitor half of your day or more, is something anti-social, it justs shorten your life.

As for computers, the same thing applies. They just have an old computer from their childhood and they are satisfied with it; just playing some games and that's all.

I'm sorry, but I find things like this utter bullcr@p. If people change like that there must have been something wrong with them in the first place. Rather than blame a social media website (really? :double) they'd better consult a psychiatrist, or take some decent medication.

Yeah, its a shame. My grandfather had his 80th birthday last year and finally he made it to the internet with beginning this year. My other grandfather using internet for 8 years now..he is 78 years old.

My dad was like that, only using the internet for the first time after he retired and then only with someone sat at the computer working it for him, but about 3-4 years ago he suddenly decided he wanted his own laptop to use the internet and email people, and he picked it up really fast.

It's generally the older generations and the very poor who've not used the Internet these days.

sometimes I wish we could return to the days of no internet!

dont get me wrong, I use the internet a lot, its difficult not to, but I try and balance my internet use with "real life" these days.

I deleted facebook a few years ago & twitter more recently, I ditched the iphone & have just sold my ipad.
The ipad was a particular problem for me, always on internet access, I could waste hours on the ipad & have nothing to show for it gawping at websites etc.
I got the point where I would wake up in the morning, roll over & pick up the ipad icard
I have also noticed a big increase in what I call "Phone Zombies"
people that stare aimlessly into smartphones, in queues, at bus stops, while driving, walking, crossing the street, at tables in restaurants, at school sports days & when they visit your house & vice versa.

God help us when these smart glasses start to gain popularity!
What a horrible world we are creating!
Technology should make our lives better & richer not worse.

Too much, too little is all up to yourself.
I quite like it, but I'm not on it that much, nor would I want too.

my gran has never used a computer dosen't have a mobile phone. and has no idea what is on the internet.
she is happy how she is though. wouldn't want to force her to use a computer or go online. she likes simple things, dosent need new smart tv she is happy to listen to the radio for 90% of the day with the tv only coming on for 2-3 hours in the evening for the news and some documentarys.
She goes to town with her other friends twice a week to go to the caffe and some shops.

pretty sure she would be less happy and content if i introduced her to the internet lol.


i do like the internet because mainly the things i would want to buy tend to be on the internet.
But i mostly like to be on forums.
i also met my wife in a mmorpg on the internet, so it has its plus sides.

technology and its gadgets must be within moderate or reasonable limits.

nevertheless, I wonder how would I be today, if I was like that fella (below) back to the 80s... I really do
