Hello,
i have not so much experience with amiga accelerator cards, and i like to ask some (propably dumb) questions about it...
my A1200 came to me with the Blizzard 1230 IV card without FPU. I have found MC68882RC50A but don't realy know, will it work with my 30Mhz CPU or shoud i upgrade it too, so that CPU and FPU have same frequency? Can i do it without additional card modification or something need to be chenged (voltages?)? Does it makes any sence to do it and what advantage will it give to me, since 3.9 and WHDLoad works good with my 30Mhz CPU and 16Mb of ram.. The same guestion is about ram.. I have seen someone here is selling 128Mb of ram, wanted to buy, but i don't know what it will give and should i invest my money in it - all i do with my amiga - is playing some games from time to time, nothing else..
thanks for answering my questions,
-Cook

If you have a Blizzard 1230 MKIV then I think your CPU should be 50mhz not 30?
If you are not into the small number of games/applications that require an FPU then it really isn't worth it - if you haven't noticed it being a problem for you, then it isnt really a problem for you. In fact if you tend to be into the kind of things that require an FPU then you probably want an even faster card - but given your uses that you state then the card you have is great.
Same thing goes for RAM - is there anything you do that seems to require more ? 16 should be more than enough.
Having said all that, I dont really do more than you but look at my signature. Perhaps I got a bit carried away........

Thank You, CrazyC, for a quick reply,
I don't know for sure.. the CPU is marked as MC68030RC50C, and since the card is 1230 i assumed it's 30Mhz one... :D:roll:
I have one more Question about jumper position.. There is a header with 4 pins on my card, i have removed ram, and saw that there is a description of the jumper setting.
It say's: if Your ram is 60ns the last two pins should be closed, mine is open but it is definitely 16Mb 60ns one... How comes?

Blizzard 1230 IV is clocked at 50MHz (the 30 in the title is for the CPU 68030 and not the MHz), therefore the FPU must be 50MHz as well. On the other hand, 16/32MB of Fast RAM is sufficient for games and working with your A1200. To sum it up, Blizzard 1230 IV is my favourite accelerator card for the A1200.

My experiences. Blizzard 1230 IV is a best working accelerator (1230) what I have tested at my A1200. Do not have any kind of working problems, not a single one. I have Blizzard 1230 IV 50Mhz 64MB + FPU 50Mhz w/ SCSI Kit 16MB. It seems that Workbench loading even faster from HHD when I got that SCSI Kit installed with extra ram. Also SCSI kit attached to this accelerator it fit its own desktop trapdoor without modifications.

You got solid card there.

@DjCook About those jumper settings. If you have one simm 60ns or faster you can set jumper there to close to pin1 and pin2. If memory is 70ns and you close those 2 pins with jumper it will give errors on screen. Closest pins above CPU is MAPROM jumpers. RAM pins above those, last two pins of the top ones. If you attach jumper there it will work 60ns or faster memory.
