Hi all. I have the above-mentioned monitor which today has started refusing to turn the tube on (everything else works fine, it's literally just the tube that doesn't come on - no flyback noise or degauss trigger). Would anybody be able to look at it for me? I'm in Sheffield but would be able to drive it to you.

Thank you!

how did i miss this?

anyway, you can send me a message for my address for drop off etc
i'll have a look at it,in the mean time dont power it on or try to

oh by the way,i nearly spat my tea out reading that comment from moggsie,it cheered me up,haha

oh,and i just realised this is your first post anywhere in the forum,so you'll probably have to comment in this thread before you can send me a private message

just a heads up

this was dropped off today

this was bizzarre, the monitor works here, for some reason

so for peice of mind im going to take it apart to inspect the power supply,we have both agreed thats a good idea

i stripped it down for inspection couldnt find anything wrong with it(apart from a small amount of surface dust, its actually very clean),i'll put it back together another day as i'll be busy for the next few days with other work
it had a noisy sdi card fan, which i think is normal for these things, ive made it quite by oiling the bearing, its pretty quite now
when i put it back together,i'll make sure it works, not much else i can do,if it doesnt play up here

what i might do is try to turn it on every day for a few days when i have it back together

i do beleive it didnt turn on he hsowed me the video of doing it while he was here, yeah its frustrating for him,but its ok
from what i could make out it only did it once and he never tried to turn it on again after, thats all i know

I turned it on the first time (to actually use it), then once I saw it not working I tried it maybe two or three more times. We then went out for a few hours and I tried it a couple more times when I got back to record the video I showed you. I then left it off

If there's nothing you can see wrong with it then at least it's not dead!!

ok then, ill take that into concideration,if it does it then i have something to go on

you seen it yourself while you were here,i had it on and off about three or four times without failure

maybe i just have magic fingers, haha

well, this is interesting i just put it back together, and now the deguass dont work at all, even though im sure i can hear the relay, strange
and that includes the manual switch at the front, nothign happens on screen

also,i noticed something i didnt notice before, the front right panel is damaged, some controls dont seem to do anything and it doesnt light up
this i will take apart in a bit for investigation
and i have spotted liquid spill in the case,i didnt see it when i was taking it apart

this hasnt moved at all, since removing the G board for inspection

Which controls on the front aren't working? Just checking as if you're using the same device to test it as before, the chroma and phase controls don't do anything on RGB (and the buttons won't light up either), this is expected behaviour as far as I am aware

contrast, and brightness and it didnt light up when manual is pressed is does now

the controls where really slack, ive taken it apart, and it was damaged, loose clips holding the pots together

ill have to find out why the deguass dont work now for some reason

see how ive closed the clips on the pots, they were opening up the contrast pot was falling apart, maybe it took a bang,i wouldnt know, but that would be my guess

second picture you can see the spill,i didnt notice it before, but i looked when i felt the cables were sticky,a drink? i dont know, but its right over the supply
but it doesn tseem to be in the supply

it doesnt matter now,i have to take it apart again,to find out why degauss dont work even though its connected and i can hear the relay, strange stuff

right,oh my god...phew,ive fixed the control panel faults and the degauss

degaus was, brace yourself buddy,it was drink spilt on the connector, ive cleaned it, it seems to work now

right here is the plan,i think ill go down into the room every now and then for a week starting from now,to make sure it works, agreed?

ill keep track of when it works and when it dont, like a tally score
ill go send him a message see if he agrees with the master plan, hahaha
not that he cant see the thread,we want to make sure it works right?

Sounds good! Maybe worth leaving it on for an hour or so each time to make sure it stays on beyond the initial power on too?

if you want, but it didnt come in for that,it was startup issue

ill do it if you want to,ok? if you dont mind clockign up hours on your set
