Interesting

I know a bloke who worked on the new wipeout for the vita

I used to love spending many hours at the old psygnosis hq down by brunswick dock

just don't race me ;)

I wish wish wish that I could.

I know that you can have multiplayer on Wipeout 2097 via machine link-up. Is this possible with the first?

If so, it would be ace to organise a Wipeout tournament.

There are so many reasons why I love Wipeout, but one is that I had time before catching the bus to school to play it because a race would only take a minute or so.

I also love how quickly you can get from Power-on to the starting grid.

For once I agree with you mate ;-)

Haha! Yippee!

@Nick

If you are at Replay on the 13/14 of Oct.... then you will get your wish..... bring some tissues ;)

Wow! That'd be incredible!

I don't like dual shock controllers, so I could bring a couple of originals from home if you don't have them and would allow that.

I'm planning to come, but it's been a real busy year and is getting busier with a big trip to California coming up from Nov 25th to Jan 10th so it's going to be tough.

Hope to see you there

I'll bring tissues too! :lol:

WipEout - The original release was a mind blower, it stands out as one of those moments in my gaming history of really having to pick my jaw off the floor after playing it. It is tougher, more gritty and rougher than WO2097 and I still love playing it too. You really had to LEARN the tracks on every corner! WO2097 just basically added sheen, meat and fixed some niggles to make about perfect, my only (small) gripe is that Psyg. dummed down the collision on the sides a little too much from WO, it should have been a little less forgiving then it would be perfect!

I built this Arcade Cab in 1995/6 just for playing 2 player WO2097 (and other games such as RR DOOM etc too). I could play it perfectly with a steering wheel too ;)

@psygnosis

can you kindly give the guy a friendly clip across the head? ;)

Wipeout 2048 was the first time I was actually put off from the first play! It took a fair few months before I felt like getting a Vita after that first experience. I ended up biting the bullet and got one with WO2048, and I did end up enjoying the game quite a bit, but man, it is very different in its feel. I'm really not a fan of the battle modes either. I want to race, not fight, and having to turn around all the time just freaks me out. Don't get me wrong, its a nice showcase for Vita, and i've had some fun with it. but its not the Wipeout I once loved. Far from it. More like a hovvering burnout wannabe.

WO2048 felt like everyone involved already knew they were being closed down after it was completed and their feelings seeped across into the game somehow.

There was going to be an arcade version with Midway if memory serves me right, they had the protype in the entrance at psygnosis

I have seen arcade versions of 2097 at bowling alleys, including a mechanical version that you climb in and it shakes you about.

Sublime!

No, seriously that is an awesome setup!

HAHA! Yes, supergeek! :D i'm a tad rougher looking nowadays as you know :D

I dream of making something like that again, but not looking so much like two TV's, a pile of speakers and a wad of MDF plastered together.... maybe one day when I ever get some spare time! :D I do have the space now in my new 40 sq. meter double garage ;)
